hello,

can anyone help me / advice needed!

is it possible to export the current media database within legator /
emc media / tape database?

i would like to export it to with csv or mdb ... or similar format

any help would be appreciated!

sorry to be clear im looking to export the tapes in the database NOT
the data on the tapes

I dont know what kind of data you are looking for but
you can use mmlocate to show locations of tapes.

or look at the man page for mminfo and you can do
several kinds of reports from the media database.

thanks for the reply...basically i want to know " what tapes we have
available / recorded " in the legato tape database

Currently mminfo can support export to delmited files or xml.  To create a comma delimited file use -xc, and redirect to a file.  use report strings (-r) to craft the output and query strings (-q) to select what you will include.  I dont know of a way to "dump" the media db though.  Check out the mminfo man page if on UNIX or the mminfo command ref pdf for more info.
