Hi all,

This is just a reminder that if you want to volunteer with Hazard's Centre--you have to let us know RIGHT AWAY.  The deadline for receiving emails from students telling us which projects they are interested in is TOMORROW, March 15th, end of day.

You only need to let us know WHICH projects you are interested in--so we can collate the contact information of interested students and forward this to Hazard's Centre.  After this, we will set up a meeting between interested students and the project coordinator from Hazards Centre, and other details such as CV's, internship forms, dates when you can start, how many hours you need to work each week.... etc. will be sorted out at this next meeting.

Thanks for all the interest. HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL TOMORROW FOR OUR NEXT MEETING--there will be more internship opportunities discussed at this meeting.  PLEASE note that we are meeting in ROOM 15, and NOT the seminar hall tomorrow.

VOLUNTEERSHIP (Internship) OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL CLC LAW STUDENTS
Hazards Centre is a Delhi-based NGO, led by Dunu Roy, which seeks to provide alternate, participatory frameworks on issues of development policy, planning and practice, and challenges the dominant judicial and administrative forces aimed at making the nation an exclusive 'world-class', 'clean', 'shining' space by excluding the poor.

Hazards Centre is offering the following short-term projects as volunteership opportunities to Law Students at CLC, so that law students can get a chance to apply and hone their legal skills while working on issues confronting the urban poor.

Interested students should email clc.legal...@gmail.com latest by end of day, March 15th, 2011 indicating which project(s) they are interested in.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.   Why should I volunteer for a project?

·        Because you are interested in the application of law in the real world, and not just learning about it in books…

·        Because you are engaged with civic life and want to work on issues of the underprivileged…

·        Because the projects mentioned above intrigue you, and you want to learn more about them…

2.   Will I get paid for this?

No. This is strictly a “volunteer”-ship opportunity. Some travel allowance will be given for work-related travel.  However, you will be given a Certificate at the end of the project, which will go a long way in establishing your credibility when you look for work after graduation.

3.   What about exams? If I start now, what happens when exam times roll around?

Hazards Center has said that they are flexible about dates.  If a project takes 2 months, it is possible that you start now, work for a month, take a break for the exams, and do one month of work afterwards.  Or you could start in June.  All this can be worked out, once you have expressed interest in a project and spoken with the project coordinator.

4.   What happens after I send email to the above address?

Everyone interested in volunteering for one of the projects below is requested to email us by March 15, 2011 at clc.legal...@gmail.com  indicating the project(s) they are interested in.  After March 15, we will collate the names of the students interested in each project and set up a meeting between the CLC students interested in a particular project, and the project coordinator from Hazards Centre leading that project.  At the meeting, the Hazards Centre coordinator will be able to answer more questions particular to the project, and those pertaining to logistics of timing etc.  They will require you to fill out internship forms and also furnish a CV.  All other details will be decided between the group of students interested in that project, and the coordinator from Hazards Centre.

5.   Who can I ask for more information?

General enquiries can be sent to clc.legal...@gmail.com or call 9540964845 (Sumit).  However, specific enquiries about the project will have to wait till the meeting with the project coordinator.
