hey Legacy Lead team-

I hope you’re all doing well. This is off topic, but some of us are organizing a protest in our gardens for July 20th. Participation can be as simple as having postcards available for people to sign. If you know any gardens who might be interested, could you please forward? Thanks,
Alice

NYC says NO to migrant Detention

Please join farms and gardens across NYC to say NO to the inhumane detention of migrants across America. Together we can amplify our dissent and empower our communities to stand up against grave human rights violations.

We encourage all farms and gardens to plan an action for the weekend of July 19-21st. This can be as simple as setting up a table with postcards for people to sign (see below). Each action or event can be unique to its space. Our spaces are thriving community hubs and can be places where neighbors come together to stand up to injustice. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the google form and we will get back to you ASAP.

Some ideas we have come up with so far include:

  • A mass postcard writing campaign to elected officials demanding a stop to unjust detentions. We will print en masse and distribute to participating gardens.
  • Signs for gardens
  • Fundraisers/bake sale for organizations helping at the border
  • Letter-writing to kids and adults in detention centers
We would love to add to this list of ideas. If you're interested in helping organize this event, please just reply to this email. A great way everyone can help is to forward this email to all the farms/gardens you know.
