Hi all,
R&P is happy to extend an invitation to join us and Lead Dust Free NYC (LDFNYC), which is led by Cooper Square Committee, at our report release event next Wednesday, 10/23 at 1:30 on the steps of City Hall!
Our participatory action research report, Left In The Dust: The Failure To Protect New York City Tenants From Lead Dust Hazards During Residential Construction, shows that safe work practices are not being followed during residential construction, exposing tenants to toxic lead dust.
LDFNYC members administered surveys to rent stabilized tenants in 30 different buildings to document the unsafe work practices they witnessed during construction, as well as their concerns about possible exposure to lead dust.
As much as we’d love to share findings and recommendations from the report here, we can’t do so until next Wednesday—all the more reason to join us! The findings are compelling and we worked hard to craft a strong set policy recommendations.
The report release coincides with National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. We worked with renowned lead experts Matt Chachere, Dr. Morri Markowitz AND the wonderful Rajiv Jaswa on this project.
We’d love to see you there if you can make it!
Best,
Irene
