World Religions II
No this still isn't a college course! Our Sunday Mornings continued the five-lesson study on world religions as we participate in Missions Month at Legacy. This week Mark Hooper of Mission Resource Network and one of our supported missionaries discussed his experience with Eastern Religions, particularly Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. I was teaching the Grace-Based parenting class to our parents, but I heard great things from both our students and adult staff that the lesson was great and full of valuable information.
They covered a lot in class! During the week, I'd encourage you to take a few minutes to talk with your teen about our lesson and about our ongoing series. Here are some questions that will help fuel your conversation:
- Many people in our culture say Christianity is closed-minded because it teaches that Jesus is the only way to heaven. How would you respond to that statement?
- What is "truth"? How do you define that word?
- Both Buddhism and Hinduism focus on the idea that one day you may be good enough and perform enough good deeds to reach your ideal eternal state. As a Christian, how important are your actions? Why would a Christian desire or strive to live a "good life"?
- What if Jesus was not the Messiah and was just a good teacher or prophet? What impact would that have on your faith?
- Why do you think God would offer us salvation based on faith, not works? What would life be like if your deeds or actions earned you salvation, so you'd know how you were doing and if you were living up to God's expectations?
- What's the best way to pray for a friend or family member who is a Muslim, and why?

BOULDER (Sevens) MISSION
INTEREST MEETING THIS WEDNESDAY!
It's back! After a few years off, we are going back to Boulder for a mission trip. We have had many requests about this awesome mission trip and this year since its our every other year with Trek we are going to Boulder to serve and minister to the homeless population through Sevens Ministry. The trip will be July 26-Aug 2nd. This trip is for High School Students, but we can only take 15 people so registration will be 1st come. Cost of this mission is around $300. We will have an interest meeting on March 19th at 8:05P so watch for updates and information. SAVE THE DATE NOW. Registration will begin at the interest meeting on March 19th. Spots will be held by deposit only, plus requirements must be met in order to attend this mission. More details March 19th.
