Doing December Differently

Rosie and Nicola are going to run a workshop-based afternoon session
for us at Carrs Lane Church based on their book.

"Doing December Differently" will be a creative afternoon workshop
based on some of the ideas and themes from the book of the same name,
published to considerable acclaim by Wild Goose in 2006, and edited by
Nicola Slee and Rosie Miles. How might we prepare for and experience
the seasons of Advent and Christmas in ways that nourish and nurture,
heal rather than harm, and which resist the rampant consumerism of our
spend! spend! spend! society? People of Christian and other faiths and
none want to 'do December differently' so come along and try out some
ideas yourselves, before December kicks in!

The Amazon UK synopsis: "Explains how people of faith and goodwill
might mark the midwinter season with integrity and simplicity. This
work includes historical, theological, liturgical and sociological
reflections and resources that can be adapted to various settings."

The session will run from 13:15 - 17:00 at Carrs Lane Church (location
map) and then we will organise a drink and meal out afterwards.

The afternoon session will begin will a finger buffet lunch which will
be included in the price.

For LEFT members the "Doing December Differently" session will be £10,
with a concessionary rate of £5 available for those who are students/
unwaged/on state pension.

For non-LEFT members the "Doing December Differently" session will be
£12.50, with a concessionary rate of £7.50 available for those who are
students/unwaged/on state pension.

Normally we would ask you to post a form and the money in advance but

this we ask you to honour any commitment you make to attend/pay as we
have a number of per person costs to make in advance of the day.
