OK, friends and comrades, we've reached a new milestone. We've passed 3000 'Likes' for the Online University of the Left. (Loud Applause!)


 

Practically, that means 3000 of you signed on our Facebook page for our daily updates in your news feed, plus visited the home page at http://ouleft.org/. Out of those visits, just over 1000 of you are repeat visitors. The widest reach of those who have seen or heard of us is over 100,000 in the last year, and the largest single item we posted got 35.000 views. From the chart included here, you can see that the demographics are excellent. Also interesting is the large numbers of readers in the UK, India and other countries where English is spoken or widely known.

So what's next? This is just a good start. We need to increase these numbers by a factor of ten or more. Plus we need to work on the following.

We need leftists and progressives of various trends to work together on monthly or weekly face-to-face forums or classes in various cities. Call it a 'Left Unity Project'. Get a projector and a meeting space--a cafe, bar or bookstore with an internet connection, login to the OUL, and pick a class or 'discussion starter'. There are hundreds to choose from. Then tell us about it, so we can get others to steal your ideas. In the US, you can invite me or other core faculty, to try to attend.

We need more breadth and depth among our faculty. If you have materials online and want to join in, just contact us. We have about 60 faculty now, and need lots more.

We also need financial support, mainly to continue buying ads online and in relevant journals to spread our reach. So make use of the 'Contribute' and 'Paypal' buttons on our home page. http://ouleft.org. It's quite secure.

Finally, we're always open for feedback and critique. This is how we improve and grow. Talk to us! We'll get back again when we reach 4000!
