Coaches - Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Tournament this Saturday, Sept. 13th!  Attached, please find the final bracket with game times and locations.  We are confirming with the base which gate to use, so please stay tuned for that.  Below is the checklist we send to coaches every year letting you know what to expect. Please make sure to forward to all of your players!  Let us know if you have any questions.

What to know for the Tournament:

1.    Arrive Early

The security lines into the base can become very long. Being stuck in a security line is not an excuse for being late. If your team is not at the field on time you will FORFEIT.

2.    Bring Your ID

Make sure everyone attempting to enter the base has their REAL ID with them. We have been told that security has increased this year. If you are denied access, there is nothing the league will be able to do for you the day of the tournament.

3.    Read the Rules

This isn't the Regular Season.  There are rules.  From legal bats to cleats: https://www.housesoftball.com/tournament/rules

4.    Be Ready to Play

Strict time limits will be enforced on games this year. No new inning will start after 55 minutes. Teams need to be warmed up and ready to play at their assigned game times.

5.    Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Don't be an A--hole. We understand that people are competitive but let's remember this is a co-ed, slow pitch softball league run by volunteers. It's a long day. Pace yourself. The umps are the final arbiters for action on the playing field

Again, read the rules. There's an entire Section regarding Sportsmanship.

6.   Food/Refreshments

We will be selling wristbands for HOT DOGS, SNACKS, AND WATER for $10 via Venmo. If you require a vegetarian option it's probably wise to bring it yourself.

7.    No beer on the field or in the dugout

There are plenty of areas to drink, if you are drinking on the field or in the dugout, umpires can eject you from the tournament and you will be asked to leave the base.

8.    Report Your Scores

The winning team is responsible for notifying the main tent of the final score of the game.

9.    Pick Up Your Trash

We want to return next year to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), in order to do that we need to treat the place with respect.

10. In Case You Were Curious, Yes, All These Rules Apply to You and Your Team

Make a day of it! Whether you are eliminated at 9 am or end up winning all day, we encourage you to hang out and enjoy the last fleeting moments of summer.

Sincerely,
USHSL Commissioners
