Dear all,****

** **

Next Urban Food Justice event (workshop 6) is organised in partnership with
other researchers and funders from the University of Leeds, and is planned
for Thursday 27th June, at Armley Mills Museums, from 10.30 to 4.30. The
event is organised in two distinct but connected parts, one in the morning,
one in the afternoon, you can attend one or both. Lunch will be provided.***

The morning - In the morning we will present and discuss a proposal to
take the Urban Food Justice project forward. This is a research grant that
we are about to submit, which aims to work in partnership with Leeds City
Council , the Permaculture Association UK, the Royal Horticultural Society,
West North West Homes Leeds, Turnstone TV, Edible Cities, Hyde Park Source
and community groups. We would like to hear your opinion on this project,
as this will provide a useful contribution to rethink the local food system.

In the afternoon, building on the Urban Food Justice workshop 3, back in
December 2012, we will launch a Leeds Biochar Initiative and present you
with an opportunity to become involved in collaborative research around the
use of biochar to improve soil fertility. In particular we will be
distributing biochar kits and a record form, and will tell you how to start
improving your soil structure, how to monitor your crops and how to collect
information on your own field trials. This will be an exciting experimental
initiative on which we will build further to enhance urban agroecology in
Leeds. ****

I am looking forward to see you there (and please don’t forget to book your
place by clicking here:

so we can have an idea of numbers for catering).
