Event reports
-------------
InVEST workshops
In March 2013, the Ecosystems Knowledge Network held two workshops on
InVEST, the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs).
This tool enables users to quantify, map and value the goods and services
provided by nature. A report and presentations from the day are available at
http://ekn.defra.gov.uk/about/events/past/invest-workshops/
Putting nature's services on the map
In April 2013, the Ecosystems Knowledge Network held a workshop in
partnership with Oxfordshire Nature Conservation Forum for representatives
of local government and their delivery partners. This explored what maps of
nature's services can do to achieve cost-effective delivery of local
government functions. A report and presentations from the day are available
at
http://ekn.defra.gov.uk/about/events/mapping-oxford/
Applying payments for ecosystem services
In May 2013, the Ecosystems Knowledge Network held a workshop on payments
for ecosystem services (PES) to coincide with the launch of Defra's Best
Practice Guide on PES. It enabled participants to evaluate the prospects for
initiating payments for ecosystem services in their own location and area of
work, and to decide how to respond to any opportunities. Video recordings of
the presentations and seminars during the day are available at
http://ekn.defra.gov.uk/about/events/past/pes-bristol/
