Does the space or anyone at the space have an Eprom universal programmer?

Need to program some Mitsubishi M5L2764k. They're Old Uv erasable EPROM parts from some rf test equipment I'm repairing. Marconi 2022 sig gen. It's either the EPROMs or micro that's faulty. Both parts are in the post😀

Most programmers will handle this part or an alternative compatible EPROM part. Programmer Needs to be capable of 21v vpp programming voltage though.

I could buy a programmer off eBay but that'd take about a month to arrive.

Thanks
Michael

NAFAIK (I asked on IRC recently), but I too would have a use for one
if we did. What's out there that's cheap and USB-powered and
reasonably sane? TL866?[1] What were you looking at buying?

Other possibilities include building a programmer (I believe pbrook
has built similar things before) or having a microcontroller pretend
to be an EPROM.

Tom.

TL866 programmer was my backup option. Seems reasonably well supported.

I would need to check it out some more to see if it does what I need before buying.

Might wait for a used one on eBay. Missed one this morning!

Your primary option being "find someone who already has one"?

If your requirement is "read/write 27xx-series EPROMs" then yes, yes
it does that, and lots more besides.

Annoyingly, the only difference between the TL866CS and the (more
expensive) TL866A is that the former doesn't have the ICSP pins to
allow you to flash the fancier firmware found on the latter. They are
otherwise identical. Shit like this really rubs me the wrong way,
even worse than the crappy windows-only software in Chinglish (which
can at least be replaced).

Moreover, it makes the decision of which one to buy less obvious, cos
you're getting screwed no matter what. Either you lose out on
features the hardware is perfectly capable of, or you're paying extra
for what amounts to a firmware upgrade, or you have to mess about
reprogramming it[1].

OK, so I now have a *second* use for one. Should you have bought
something by now I'd be happy to go halves on the condition that it be
donated/loaned/otherwise made available for use at the space.

Tom.

Have a TL866A universal programmer on order.

Figured it would also be useful for occasional programming of Pic and Atmel micros.

Plan to leave it at the space when I'm not using it.
I don't expect to need one very often. We need some sort of storage place for this type of thing. Box or drawers.

I have not bought any adapters for it since I don't initially need any.

I'll foot the bill for the programmer.

Your free to use it whenever. I'll drop it off at the space when I've briefly used it.
