From Stuart Jones (element14 social media dandy
https://twitter.com/StuartSJones):
You’re
competing against Chicago’s Pumping Station 1 to build something
awesome using the Beaglebone Black (we’ve already donated this to you
guys).
The Challenge (time to build) runs between last Monday 10th June and the 4th of July.
The idea is that both Hackspaces will document their builds on element14.com and then after a month we will ask the community to vote for their favourite build. We are expecting the build to be documented in weekly blog updates on the Beaglebone page of element14. Just hit create new blog when you land. (A simple blog with some images or video will be perfect).
On or before the 4th of July we would expect you submit a final blog that gives as much detail about the build as possible.
All of these blogs combined effectively count as your entry.
Once
the challenge is over and the voting is done, we will award the winning
hackspace a $1000 donation and the runner up receives a $500. We
will then put both yours and PS1’s builds to a public vote (in the form
a Facebook vote app and also a vote on element14). This will happen
between the 7th and the 19th of July.
Once the voting closes, we count up and the winning hackspace takes the gold (this will be around July 22nd).
There
are no hard and fast guidelines for HOW you complete the challenge and
what you make in the end. Clearly the idea though is to showcase the
Beaglebone Black (win for us) and support and talk up your hackspace
(win for you).
Throughout this period we are happy to help you guys promote any local events you wish through our social media channels.------------------------------------
So, it looks like we don't necessarily have to demonstrate it or such (obviously that's bonus brownie points with people I'm guessing), but we need to have blog posts up showing our progress, intentions, how we've worked with it, what we've found out, etc. Else there's little/no evidence of our 'working out' with it. I don't know if anyone's actually started doing this, I'm guessing not.
