Hi all,
It's time to sort out Light Night 2025! We've been asked to set up the Cube in an indoor location in Wellington Place, and we need your help.
There's lots of things to do - repairing and maintaining the Cube, programming new light sequences, making music for new and exciting features, and more mundane but necessary things like packing and H&S.
I've prepared a form for registering your interest with certain task areas, and it will also ask if you're interested in taking the lead on a specific area. This will mean co-ordinating your helpers and being responsible for getting stuff done, and I'll be chatting to anyone who says they're up for this. PLEASE do not commit yourself to more than you can handle, and tell us ASAP if things pile up too high. The reputation of the Hackspace is at stake here, since we're working with external companies.
You can also sign up for 30min shifts on the night - these are so we have enough people to look after the Cube and speak to the public where necessary. Whilst there will inevitably be some people who end up there for most of the night, this is for those who perhaps don't want to babysit for hours, but can commit to a shorter time (and give any of the more permanent staff a break). Ideally we need at least 2 people at all times.
What's more, if you sign up for at least 2 shifts you'll get fed! I don't know how this'll work yet (discussions with the venue are ongoing) but you'll get something. I've specified that you can only commit to 4 timeslots on each day - if you want to do more than this, drop me an email.
The event takes place on Thursday 23rd (including setup) and Friday 24th of October, with teardown on Saturday 25th (TBC).

Alex
