Hardware & Software KS3 unit

I have put together a hardware and software unit of work for year 8
where students play with
1. real operating systems in native form (XP, 98, ubuntu) using
virtual PC
2. simulation software and demos to have a play with building a
machine (motherboard and all)
3. making a peer - to - peer network with virtual machine and a ping
etc
i'll post the documents
what do people think?
i know that it is not computer science down the programming route but
i thought it was worth sharing

Jonathan,

Some of that overlaps with a module I am teaching here. I'd be
interested in having a look! There may be stuff I have (programming,
history of computers, databases ...) I could share in return :-).
