TheSims 5's full map has potentially leaked, teasing a return to open-world gameplay based on real-world locations. Electronic Arts has kept most of the details surrounding its next installment in the popular life-simulation franchise under wraps, but it's clear that with the current gaming hardware on offer, it intends for the title to be bigger than ever.

Redditor DzXAnt22 took to the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit to share screenshots of The Sims 5's map, which they claimed to have datamined from the Project Rene Playtest build of the game that was leaked a few weeks prior. The playtest only let players access a small fraction of the map, which is highlighted in red on the screenshots posted to Imgur, but DzXAnt22 believes the locations on display seem to be inspired by more real-world places, namely Paris, as they have also found photo references for the French capital city in the game files, which they've offered to share should there be a demand.

Further comments on DzXAnt22's post also indicate a return to open-world gameplay. Previously, 2009's The Sims 3 had an open-world map, but this feature was dropped for 2014's The Sims 4, which instead opted for different, individual "worlds", each with its own aesthetic and focus, with more worlds being added through further expansions. Some worlds were only accessible via vacationing or traveling through portals, but fans have since created their own mods to implement more of an open-world mechanic to the game to bring it more in line with The Sims 3.

It had long been rumored that The Sims 5 would be returning to an open-world structure with multiplayer as the title adopts a "free-to-enter" format, alongside other features that have since been made possible due to the improvements in modern gaming hardware. According to DzXAnt22, the game utilizes asset streaming and LODs to keep everything running smoothly, stating that "performance is rock solid even when fully zoomed out". They also mention that there is no "Travel" UI icon or anything like it anywhere in the game files, suggesting The Sims 4's portals won't be present in the new game.

DzXAnt22 did point out that the playtest build is over a year old and was very early in development, serving as more of a tech demo of the game's building mechanics, so it's possible certain elements may change by the game's full release. If the map and the rumors surrounding The Sims 5 are true, it certainly seems like it could be a step in the right direction for fans of the franchise who have wanted to build and explore their own open world with their friends without the use of mods.

Life By You is a new game in development at Paradox Interactive that aims to out-Sims the Sims: It's an open-world game that uses "real language conversations," enables players to take direct control of in-game avatars, and will come with a suite of customization tools that will "allow for unparalleled levels of storytelling." Development is also being headed up by Rod Humble, who prior to becoming general manager at developer Paradox Tectonic was the head of EA's Sims label for several years.

It's an ambitious project, and as associate editor Lauren Morton wrote earlier this month, it will provide some long-overdue competition for The Sims, which has effectively owned the "dollhouse-core simulation genre" for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, she (and the rest of us) are going to have to wait a little longer than expected before we'll get to see whether it can deliver on that front, as the early access release planned for September has been pushed to March 5, 2024.

It's probably a wise move. For all its technical aspirations, Life By You has not really impressed us on the visual front: Morton, one of PC Gamer's top Sims-knowers, described the game as "a bit ugly" in its current state, saying it has "big 'virtually staged Zillow listing' vibes."

In a video message, Humble said that a preview of Life By You's updated interface will be shared later this week, as will a blog post with more detail on the planned changes. Because of the date change, all current preorders of Life By You on the Epic Games Store will be automatically refunded because of the date change; however, you can preorder with the updated early access right away.

Downloaded For Rent EP and the Tomarang world (For Rent world) wont open, all it is is a white screen when i click on the world. I've restarted my computer, reset my cache on EA, reparied my sims but nothings works, any help?

50-50 : This means organizing the files there into bite-size batches (with any files they require, like XML Injector or a Core Library mod or mesh) and testing one batch at a time. For each test, delete the file called localthumbcache, then put only that batch in Mods. If your game behaves as you expect, set that batch aside as "cleared" and delete localthumbcache again. If it doesn't behave as you expect, take out half the batch and see if you're closer to finding the culprit. Remember to delete localthumbcache each time. You'll find some 50-50 method tutorials online too. Once you isolate the file, you can go find out if there's an updated version.

I got a problem with my Sims 4 game. When I open the game I see the menu and everything works normal. I can create sims in CAS and the map works. The problem is that I can't open the worlds. When I try to open a world it shows me an error, and sometimes it just lodes without stopping.

Do you have any mods or custom content (CC) in your game? Could you test without?

You can just move the folder to a location outside the Electronic Arts folder.

If the game works without your CC and mods in, your issue is probably caused by a broken mod or CC.

You can find a full list of broken/incompatible CC and mods since the Seasons expansion pack over here:

This happened with the new update and as I havent seen anyone else have this issue idk if they will patch it

The Sims 5 is reportedly in development, and fans are hoping that a few key features missing in the previous title will make it back to the main game. The Sims series has always been a life simulation game, and with this comes certain expectations of what should and should not be included in any of its titles. One of the biggest criticisms of The Sims 4 was the segmented world that was a step in the wrong direction, following the praise that The Sims 3 received for its world. Now, fans are hoping that The Sims 5 will return to the full open-world formula of previous games and give players the ability to explore their world freely.

Out of all the things that The Sims 4 got wrong, not having an open world is the one feature that led to a large amount of backlash. While other missing features such as vehicles were later added in, the open-world is one of those that could not simply be patched or updated, and as a result, made The Sims 4 one of the most disappointing titles in the series for many fans. Now Maxis and EA have a chance to redeem themselves by adding an open-world element to The Sims 5, giving fans tons to explore and bringing the world to life.

As a life simulator, The Sims needs to give its players the freedom to make any choice, whether that is to make their sim into a rockstar or delete the ladder for a pool and watch the sim freak out. However, this level of freedom takes a severe hit when players need to continuously wait through loading screens to simply leave their house. A seamless open world would not only improve immersion but can also increase the number of activities available to players and give them the ability to wander and meet other Sims in the world organically.
