DescriptionI am exploring creating a dedicated mute (and call status) button (on a custom keyboard) similar to the interface on my headset cable (green light if in zoom call, red light if on mute, button to toggle mute). The mute status of the headset syncs with the app which is a relatively new feature.
I have seen a few questions about accessing Mute/Unmute, but they tend to focus on webhook or REST APIs. I am aware if zoommtg:// protocol, but seems that is one way with a focus on starting/joining meetings.
The use case here is to externalize control of the zoom call to a hardware device like the Elgato Stream Deck. The Zoom client usability suffers greatly in a remote work setup where users must operate Citrix or other remote desktop. Constantly hunting down the client when you are using Citrix or similar remote desktop application just adds friction to the process. Being able to control the mute status is obviously useful but trusting the current status indicated in the hardware requires the ability to obtain it.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, this forum is only meant for assisting developers who are integrating our macOS SDK into their own applications. To submit feedback regarding the Zoom client please fill out the feedback form here.
We were able to use the Zoom SDK to build what you are looking for (I think) with the event callbacks provided when these actions occur. The source code for the streamdeck plugin that relates to the Zoom app is available on Bitfocus Companion; it ties to ZoomOSC which is an SDK client.
It is possible to receive a callback when another users mutes or unmutes as long as you have joined the same meeting as them through your own app which implements the Meeting SDK. With the SDK, the callback you would use is onUserAudioStatusChange.
So like the title states, I've got Zoom installed on my work laptop, but I keep my desktop as icon-free as possible. Every time I delete the Zoom icon however, it's inevitably back on my desktop within a day or two.
I've tried everything I can think of. There's no setting within Zoom I can find to stop auto updates, Zoom isn't a startup app, it's not an icon on the Public or Default desktops, and my laptop isn't being affected by any GPO that would cause icons to reappear.
It's not the most critical issue because I can just delete the icon again, but it is incredibly frustrating seeing it again when I login the day after deleting it..
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
I've since found that in my situation, as this is a work laptop, application updates and a forced desktop icon were being pushed from the monitoring/remote assistance system we install on all the computers in the enterprise. Had nothing to do with the Zoom application itself, and as I'm an admin in that system I simply removed my computer from the policy; Problem Solved!
I don't have a solution either. I have the same problem, I think it is due to the zoom x64 installer running at startup every time I boot. I have not found a way to fix the installation running every time I start up my computer.
I have been having the same issue. I have a similar issue with FireFox, and Adobe acrobat. I have complained in similar forums but the DEVs don't listen or seem like they care. I would really appreciate a simple checkbox. that is literally all they would have to do. I would keep it set to update automatically, and I wouldn't have to worry about it since I already "unchecked" the box that indicates a desktop icon. but o well.
I'm an IT Admin for my company and oversee the management and deployment of the Remote Desktop and Monitoring software we use on all of our machines, so I simply removed the Zoom application installation from the startup scripts applied to my specific computer.

Since the latest update to Zoom Workplace
My desktop client no longer works on my Windows computer. I'm getting a message saying that I can't connect.
Everything worked until the day before yesterday, but nothing has worked since yesterday. In the meantime I haven't changed any configuration, made any other updates or anything else.
- Zoom via browser works
- The desktop client works on other computers
- No proxy settings active
- To check, I deactivated the firewall, I don't use VPN
- I uninstalled the client several times with CleanZoom, restarted the computer and reinstalled it again.
- I restarted the router, used LAN once and WiFi once
- I am using the latest version
- Operating system and firmware are up to date
I tried to join my church zoom meeting this morning 05-MAY-24. Zoom said I had to upgrade, I clicked for upgrade and I thought it finished. I saw a new icon on my desktop "ZOOM WORKPLACE." I retried mu usual login to the Zoom meeting and never got connected to communicate to the host. Tried multiple times, no go.
We appreciate you guys sharing your experience on this thread,
There are multiple reasons why an update may not work properly upon installing.

Thank you and have a great day!
I am having the same problem! It is driving me nuts. I keep getting Error 5003 and it can't connect. Only is happening on my desktop Windows PC. Works fine on my windows laptop and on my phone, all connected to the same network. Happened just a week or so ago and it's so frustrating! Please let me know if there's an update or solution.
I had an incident where my CTRL key was stuck and the mouse wheel was adjusting the zoom level of my Windows 10 desktop. I would like to reset the zoom level back to its default, but CTRL-0 doesn't seem to work on the Windows desktop. I have no way of knowing (besides eyeballing) if my desktop is back to the default zoom level when I adjust it. Is there any way of resetting it to the default?
I also thought that CTRL + 0 wasn't working to reset to 100% zoom ... but it is only when I use the 0 key on the extended keyboard that it fails, using the 0 key one main keyboard (above P) that it resets to 100% ... I'll just need to get into the habit of using the main number keys instead of the small numeric keypad that I am so used to.
