I am working on a python program that uses vlc for audio, It runs on a windows system and perform this function (along with others).
I currently have it supporting the following MQTT messages (currently). Would you be willing to test it?
@Sireone (and any other brave souls).
I have created a build for my windows pc based notification app (HApyAudio).
Program is capable of running in the system tray (not really a service so use the windows startup apps)
This is built in Python and all the code is available for review here [be kind ;-)]
When you connect from line-out of the CD player to line-in of the computer, you lose a little quality. This is because the CD is digital, but the audio going down the cable connecting line-out and line-in has to be converted to analogue, and then back to digital when it gets to the line-in.

What could be the reasons for a new car CD player (has the markings: RDS, MP3 and CompactDisc) not to play MP3 files from a CD, that normally is read on every computer or so? The plaser in the car reads audio CDs without problems.
I've tried recording the MP3s on two different brands of CDs, and with two different speeds (16x and 24x; for some reason I cannot get it to record at lower speeds although they are offered in options, it just defaults back to 16x).
Also (from the PC side), ensure you're fully closing the CD/session when done writing, most stand-alone CD players I've run into over the years (auto or otherwise) don't like unclosed/multi-session CDs.
A data CD containing for example MP3 or WAV files will play happily on your computer but is unlikely to play in a standalone CD player or in-car CD player (note that some modern CD players will play data CDs). An audio CD will play on any standalone or in-car CD player and in your computer and in modern DVD players.
Just started to use HQ Player to do Redbook to DSD128 conversion. We were previously using JRiver MC19 and were pretty seduced by the results. However HQPlayer is even better and we find the results to be glorious / stunning. Female voices and acoustic instruments seem to gain more texture and sound significantly more realistic than decoding the Redbook original
Thank you... for some reason I never got the code with the trial so I cannot try this recommended program. When I requested a new download the trial key was accepted as expired. I contacted Signalyst and that went no where. Such is life...
Maybe it was you or bad timing? I say that as Jussi of Signalyst is very responsive, but I think is a one man show. You may see him here as "Miska". I'd try it again, it is worth it. His upsampling is considered one of, if not the foremost in the DIY circles, and one sees it compared as a benchmark to which others aspire. If you are looking to convert to DSD, well, Jussi has been a proponent of it longer than anyone I can recall around here.
Ok... I have bought it based upon the previous comments. I will always gamble when it comes to my listening experience. So how do I get the manual for it as referenced in the help section. Thanks for your help.
I do not know as I have not tried DSD as of yet. My three i2s solutions predate DSD popularity, and it was not a strong interest at the time. I am considering an iDSD for kicks while I rebuild my DAC.
HQ Player for Mac/OSX requires a Network Audio Adapter, OK, what is an NAA? How is it implemented? Is it software for OSX, or is it a separate Linux PC. Would a MAC Mini with a 2.7GHz core i7 and 8GB of mem be sufficient to do DSD256, upsampled or native, to an exaSound e22 DAC? If the NAA is a separate Linux box, what are you fellows using, software and hardware wise? Thanks.
There's wide variety of possible hardware, I provide the "networkaudiod" package for x86, armel and armhf architectures running Debian (Wheezy) Linux. (plus one package x86_64 architecture running Debian Jessie)
When Miska said "not anymore" in post 17, this means he has a beta for OS X that does not require a NAA, i.e., does not require a server-client architecture. Apparently it is a stand-alone desktop music player application like Audirvana's playlist mode.
If adding AppleScript commands is too much trouble, then please include menu commands for these functions (rather than requiring the mouse) so that we can automate these commands using scripts that send keystrokes.

Sports scientists require a thorough understanding of the energy demands of sports and physical activities so that optimal training strategies and game simulations can be constructed. A range of techniques has been used to both directly assess and estimate the physiological and biochemical changes during competition. A fundamental approach to understanding the contribution of the energy systems in physical activity has involved the use of time-motion studies. A number of tools have been used from simple pen and paper methods, the use of video recordings, to sophisticated electronic tracking devices. Depending on the sport, there may be difficulties in using electronic tracking devices because of concerns of player safety. This paper assesses two methods currently used to measure player movement patterns during competition: (1) global positioning technology (GPS) and (2) a computer-based tracking (CBT) system that relies on a calibrated miniaturised playing field and mechanical movements of the tracker. A range of ways was used to determine the validity and reliability of these methods for tracking Australian footballers for distance covered during games. Comparisons were also made between these methods. The results indicate distances measured using CBT overestimated the actual values (measured with a calibrated trundle wheel) by an average of about 5.8%. The GPS system overestimated the actual values by about 4.8%. Distances measured using CBT in experienced hands were as accurate as the GPS technology. Both systems showed relatively small errors in true distances.
Before you begin, ensure you have your licence key and software version. This can be found on the license certificate, from within the ODMS Software on your PC (to access this, go to Help > About Transcription Module), or from within the DSS Player PRO on your Mac (to access this, go to DSS Player > About DSS Player)
On your desired computer, download the latest version of ODMS / DSS Player from the Olympus Website. Run the installer and enter the License Key when prompted. The licence key will determine if the Transcription Module or Dictation module is installed (Licence key starting with RT will install Transcription Module, RD will install Dictation Module). Once complete, you will have ODMS installed on the new computer.
Hi, QuickTime Player crashed my computer under Sonoma 14.0. Today I upgraded to Sonoma 14.1.1. But QuickTime Player still crashes my MacBook Pro M1 2020 when I watch a 30 seconds 4K Apple Video, shot by an iPhone 14 Pro. I can watch the video, but at the end of it, my computer is frozen, and I have to shut it down by pressing the on/off button down during ten seconds. Is there something I missed ?
I don't use Cyberghost very often on my computer, but I need it a lot on my iPad, as I live in Absurdistan (which was called France a long time ago), and
rumble.com, RussiaToday.com and others are forbidden here. I don't eat west propaganda so I want to taste east propaganda.
The issue appears on each video I tried to screen on my computer, but I only get iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 shot videos. I can't test with other video because I haven't any. I will try to download one from the net, but I don't know where I can find one.
I have had other issues since the upgrading to Sonoma, when I load my videos from my iPhone to my Macbook with a USB wire, using File Transfert, after several loads the transfert stops and the software disconnects my iPhone from the Finder window. If I try to unplug an replug, my iPhone is not available in the Finder window. Shutting down File Transfert and reopening it doesn't change anything. So I load my videos with airdrop but it is longer and need more checks.
I have got a similar problem, kernel panic crash while playing video AND while connected to an external monitor. In my case it happens often while I watch netflix in a web browser. It only happens after the Sonoma update. So it is not an ext. monitor issue, the issue is with the connection related to playing a video.
I tested an iPhone 13 video 1280*720 and as soon as I moved the cursor out of the frame of QuickTime Player during the watch, image is freezing but audio still runs, and my computer does not respond anymore. When I wait for around a minute the computer reboot alone like a grown up.
So I launched Etrecheck before testing the issue, and it didn't find any major issue. It found some minor issues, Time Machine Save was not in use, OpenOffice.app 4.1.9 has no signature, Etrecheck not launched from an administrator user so file Files/Library/logs/DiagnosticReports can't be reached. I can send it but in french it could be harder.
