Can ledger be used to inject data into gnucash?

Gnucash and Ledger serve as excellent crutches for each other, and
work great as a combination (e.g. when using ledger to extract data
*from* gnucash to generate reports). One weakness of gnucash as that
it cannot import data non-interactively, so I wonder if ledger can
help with this.

Since ledger NEVER modifies a file, but only send output to at stout or a new file and does not write in GNUCash format I think you would have to write some glue code to manipulate you GNUCash files

I would love to see an up-to-date detailed how-to on this.

I was wondering about this a few weeks ago. ledger can output XML but
I don't think it can be read by Gnucash. It seems the common file
format for financial data is OFX. It would be great if ledger could
be modified to output OFX. I've no idea how much work this would be
though.
