Ledger Presentation

[Russell Adams]

I have agreed to do a presentation at the Houston Linux Users Group
next Saturday on Ledger and command line accounting.

I thought I'd post to the list and ask for suggestions from other
Ledger users as to what they might like to see included. After the
presentation, the slides and a video will be posted online for
everyone.

So far my thoughts are to cover:

- Basic ledger introduction
- file format
- cli
- w/ Bazaar VC (compliments my previous presentation)
- Example budget using subaccounts (envelope budgeting?)
- Basic reporting
- CSV imports via CSV2Ledger (shameless self promotion!)

Any recommendations?

Sounds like a great presentation already! If I were there, I'd be
interested in seeing how to generate visual info from my ledger file
(gnuplot?). I currently don't do this, but it's one of the things I
miss from my Quicken/GnuCash days...

- use of ledger-mode in emacs (eg for tab-completion of account names)

I am getting a 406 Not Acceptable for the link. Can you please check?

Manish,

First make sure you're not behind a proxy filter, last user had a 406
was for a different website on the same webhost but they had a strict
proxy.

Second, try going to http://adamsinfoserv.com/ and then navigate to
Presentations.

Hi Russell,

Thanks for looking.

I checked I am not behind a proxy. All kind of sites work okay for me.
I did try http://adamsinfoserv.com/ as well but I get the same error.
Additionally I tried a few http://www.hlug.org/ links as well but they
take me to a blank page.

Looks like your IRC "threat" did something. ;-) I checked again before
logging in to IRC and it worked! The presentation looks great and
covers lots of ground. Looking forward to the video.

It's on my server, awaiting our video guy to re-encode it for the
web. We're redoing all the videos on that site.
