Hello everyone, 2.4 is ready with a big update I've been working on parallel to the minor polishing and bug fixes.

Patch Notes for 2.4

New Features:

Favorites system

· Swipe left or right on any book card to mark it as a favorite. A red indicator strip appears on the edge.
· You can filter your library to show only favorited books.
· Favorites are now featured in a dedicated Wrapped slide at the end of the year.
· Currently the red strip is just a straight line, expect it to curve and adapt to the book card in the next update.

Custom reading challenges

· Accesible throught the new trophy icon on main screen where the arrows icon used to be
· Set personal goals for pages, books, sessions, reading streaks, or minutes. Create custom challenges with deadlines, and track your progress with live progress bars. Default challenges (12 books per year, 7-day streak) are seeded automatically on first run.

Advanced statistics

Three new deep-dive sections in your stats:

· Hourly heatmap showing your most active reading times (7-day view)
· Saga statistics grouping books by series
· Speed outliers highlighting your fastest and slowest reads compared to your average

Widget configuration

· You can now toggle on or off the emojis shown inside the widget pills. (Individually and globaly)
· Currently only available when you add the widget to your screen. Should be accessible from Settings > Widget in 2.5

Book Quest

· The minigame now tracks how many times you’ve beaten it. A trophy counter appears on the main menu and in the victory screen.

· You can access it by taping "Lecturameter" 5 times on main scren. You will need books to play it but no worries, if you have none you can tap "Play with classics" or use the DEMO JSON.

· Note: The Books in play with classics all have their Spanish tittles and no cover. Working on it. Expect it to be fixed on 2.5

UI & Experience

Backup(s)

As you've read in the challenges section the backup menu has been moved completly to Settings > Backup

Why? Two main reasons

1. Ever since I added the backup section in Settings (way before I even thought of publishing the app) it felt weird having two backup menus doing different things in different places. This unifies all your backup needs in one place.
2. Challenges needed to be easily accesible so they belonged in main screen, but there wasnt room for them if I didnt get read of one other icon so I decided to do what I had been thinking for a while.

More UI & Experience changes

· Better tablet and landscape support. *(it might still be bugged. Expect more work on it in future updates)
· The app now rotates freely on tablets and large screens (the scanner remains portrait). The main library adapts to a two-column grid on wide displays, and most screens center their content on tablets for easier reading. The tutorial also adjusts its layout when in landscape.

Adaptive header icons

· The top bar icons now distribute evenly across any screen width, eliminating overflow on smaller devices.

Saga titles preserved

· When switching between editions of a book, the series name and volume number (e.g., “(The Stormlight Archive, #3)”) stay attached to the title instead of being overwritten.

Localization polish

· Fixed several English translations. · All visible Spanish “backup” strings now read “copia de seguridad”.
· Various other hardcoded strings in Spanish have been properly externalized.
· Note: Spanish stil uses "outlier" in stats. Fix in 2.5

Bug Fixes

Backup reliability

· Duplicate local backup files no longer accumulate. The app correctly overwrites the existing daily backup instead of creating new copies. (This is a bug that keeps coming back somehow, lol)
· Auto-backup scheduling now respects updated settings without holding onto obsolete network constraints.
· Manual backup buttons now wait for the actual completion status before showing success or failure. (Another recurring one that has been here since the begining of times)

Widget fixes

· The widget refreshes properly when resized.
· Compact mode now adjusts text and padding based on the widget’s actual width.
· The timer emoji displays correctly on all devices (forced emoji rendering).

UI fixes

· The session history no longer stays expanded after clearing a search.
· Open dialogs now scroll properly in landscape mode to prevent overflow.

---

Performance

· Smaller APK size
· R8 code shrinking and obfuscation are now reducing the app size significantly and improving load times.

Know issues

· Hourly heatmap might not be showing for some people
· Landscape mode might not be working correctly
