I need to do the same thing and there is no direct message option. There must be an easier way to cancel than messaging you on such a cumbersome manner! Isn't there an email address I can send the message to???
If you're looking to cancel your Netflix subscription and delete your account completely, you've come to the right place. Below, you'll find directions on how to delete your Netflix account on your desktop and on your phone.
I've written a lot about why you might want to cancel Netflix, all in the pursuit of making sure we all make the most of the streaming services we pay for. All along the way, though, I was writing with a specific point of view: analyzing what's new on the streaming service. Even with all of the best Netflix shows, I didn't have one that kept me coming back. Until now, that is.
I was already familiar and something of a fan of Netflix's I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson (one of the best Netflix comedies). I'd watched both of its first seasons, and laughed a fair bit here and there. I knew the memes, and the show's most memorable lines turned into inside jokes with a few friends (and the Xbox Twitter account manager). I thought the first two seasons were good, but not something I'd want to rewatch over and over.
First, a bit of context for those who never crashed a hot dog car before. I Think You Should Leave is a hilariously bizarre sketch comedy series that aims for an all-killer, no-filler offering. Each season is a brisk six episodes, which are between 14 and 18 minutes in length. Yes, you can binge a whole 'season' in less than two hours.
As for the segments themselves? You're probably most familiar with the aforementioned hot dog car crash sketch, wherein Tim Robinson plays a dude wearing a hot dog suit is at the scene of a hot dog-shaped car crash, and demands to figure out who's responsible. The genius of Robinson's comedy, though, comes in after the initial 'joke,' as the hot dog suit guy almost monologues his way out of the situation.
And while ITSYL shifts its pace throughout each short episode, it hits the mark far more than it misses. As someone who remembers watching too many SNL sketches filled with ... stuff I'll politely call filler ... I Think You Should Leave offers the perfect alternative, as it's not live, and edited within a second of its life.
But while the first two seasons of I Think You Should Leave are very good, it feels like its third run is arguably its best. Or at least it hits stronger with me than any before it. This could be recency bias talking, but when I've got plenty of new shows to stream, but instead opt to watch I Think You Should Leave season 3 over and over again? I'm impressed, because I haven't watched a show like this in ages.
The opening about a TV pundit who loves his phone more than doing his job was good, but it didn't really wow me. The rest of the segments didn't exactly hit the show's past heights (for me) either. All the while, my best friend was raving about how the episode-ending segment about a designated driver with a secret side hustle was peak-ITYSL.
And then I watched episode 2, which utterly broke my brain with a segment about virtual reality. The twist of the segment is so utterly illogical and bonkers that I was wheezing and practically making honking noises as I laughed. And, then, there's the Eggman game:
If this bit doesn't have you cackling (or at least laughing), ITYSL may not be right for you, but then again, one viewer's favorite can be another's 'skip.' Which is why I say watch at least two episodes, that way you'll know if it's definitely not for you.
In addition to the skits where one person (often Robinson) is being socially awkward and annoying, the other kind of fantastic ITYSL moments come from how others react to him. In particular, I'm thinking about a scene at a sitcom taping. Robinson is in the audience, and right when the crowd is done laughing to a moment, he starts to vent about those who wronged him.
One of the best parts of I Think You Should Leave is how segments improve when you know what's about to happen next. For example, rewatching the season 3 premiere I didn't love the first time, I watched Robinson with a keener eye in the segment where he's a designated driver.
And since each season is less than two hours, a season of ITYSL is the perfect solution when I'm trying to find something to watch when nothing's on or truly intriguing me. When I Think You Should Leave is this good? It will be a long time before I even think about canceling Netflix again.
Earlier this month, I canceled my Netflix account, something I've always wanted to do, but never before felt ready to try. It all happened because Netflix lost the one show I wanted to watch the most.
And now that I've finished that show? Well, the good news is that I'm keeping Netflix turned off (at least for the immediate future). In its absence, I've had no lack of shows to watch, thanks to three other streaming services that are meeting my needs for shows. Heck, one of them just added a movie I've wanted to see (without going to the cinema).
This entire process, as I'll document below, shows that Netflix does not have a strangle-hold on the world of streaming. It may be ubiquitous. Shows such as The Tinder Swindler and Inventing Anna may dominate social media, and there's a ton of buzz around the Bridgerton season 2 teaser trailer, but you don't need it every month. In fact, you may also be asking should you cancel Netflix?
That's because between Peacemaker, Euphoria and The Righteous Gemstones, HBO Max has been on fire as of late. All three shows are currently proving that while Succession was HBO's most buzzed about show last fall, the service is far more than just that one show (while Netflix can often times feel like the place that is eventually bringing Stranger Things and The Witcher back at some point).
And while those shows will end soon, that amount of concurrent quality gives me reason to expect more. From Euphoria's constantly anxious and manic/depressive energy to Peacemaker's himbo energy to all of the hilarious family drama of Gemstones, HBO Max is great at giving me a range of vibes.
The big reason why I had to leave Netflix was to make room for the $8.99 per month AMC Plus, the only place I could watch Halt and Catch Fire. Then, after I canceled Netflix, I realized I wouldn't have to spend that cash, thanks to a second trial from Apple TV Channels. I kept Netflix canceled, though, as that $20 is nice to have in my pocket.
And over the last two weeks, I loved watching Halt and Catch Fire with every free second I had. Honestly, it's a true hidden gem of a show that's using a fictional, alternate history of the rise of the personal computer and the internet to show us five broken, but lovable characters. To say that the Halt and Catch Fire finale, and the episodes leading up to it, left me emotional would be an understatement. They wrecked me (and I loved every minute).
Unfortunately, AMC Plus isn't the true AMC super-subscription I want it to be, as we'll get to below. While it offers episodes of Killing Eve (which is about to come back for season four), it doesn't have Killing Eve season two. And it also doesn't have any episodes of the other big AMC series I want to watch, Better Call Saul.
Fortunately, the Black Friday $1 per month Hulu deal I got last year is still running, and Hulu has all the Killing Eve I need. It also has the other show I'm catching up on, What We Do In The Shadows (which I'm still in the middle of season 3 on).
Unfortunately, my time away from Netflix may have a predetermined end-date coming in the near future (No, I'm not excited about Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy). As you may have gathered, I've become enamored with watching all the shows I've always said I'll watch. On April 18, Better Call Saul (which is on Netflix in the U.S.) finally returns for its sixth and final season. Or at least half of that season, as AMC broke the two halves of Better Call Saul season 6 in half, and Variety reports the latter half isn't due until July 11.
I've watched almost all of Better Call Saul season one and that gives me five seasons and an episode left to watch. Netflix, unfortunately, doesn't have Better Call Saul season five yet. And nobody does. And so I might wind up spending $10 on Better Call Saul season 5 on Amazon. That's as annoying to me as anyone else.
I write all of the above without much confidence in what decision I'll make because I don't know where the series will go. What I'm hoping is that AMC Plus gets Better Call Saul seasons 1-5, and soon. That would be a smart way to drive subscriptions and promote the new season. But Better Call Saul shows no signs of leaving Netflix.
This brings me to two subjects that aren't fun for most folks: math and the concept of ownership of digital media. I could down the 31 Better Call Saul episodes I haven't seen that are on Netflix in one month's time (which would cost $19.99 for 4K, which the show streams in). Then, it costs me another $10 for season 5, if everything holds still.
In order to change the country associated with your Apple ID, you will have to cancel your subscriptions first. Your subscription will then be canceled at the end of the billing period for that subscription.
I contacted talktalk to cancel my netflix i believe in august and was offered a new contract and to have Netflix removed. I agreed to this and i thought all would be well. Next bill Netflix still hadnt been removed and i was again charged for it. I recontacted talktalk to be told it would now be removed and given a credit on the next bill. I even had an email around 2nd Oct apologising and another to say Netflix bundle removed and this would appear on my next bill. Just had the latest bill in and im still being charged. I contact talktalk a third time on the chat and spent an hour being transferred to numerous deptartments to be told i needed to re contract to have this removed. I had only just recontracted. They eventually said there was an issue removing it and i would be refunded eventually and i needed to contact them again in 7 days to check. I need this sorted asap and appear not to be able to cancel this. I can not afford it and they are causing me to go into debt. I have no idea whether it will be sorted this time but i have my doubts and why do i need to do the chasing when i have asked 3 times now to hsve it cancelled. Can anyone help as no idea ehat else to do.
