Gentlemen – I have a pal, based in San Francisco who has an Orpheus preamp plus the mighty Orpheus (latterly, the legendry Meridian 107) stereo power amp for sale. Fully serviced by Dave Hall at Meridian. If interested then in the first instance, please email me at h...@no-alibi.demon.co.uk

My own 107 + 101b was submitted by me with my 401s plus Linn / Grace 707 / Supex for review to a very sceptical Phil Mount (you’ll know him today as HiFi World founder / editor Noel Keywood) when he was at a long-defunct UK mag; the name of which escapes me. He was, as indeed he should have been, astonished. I might be able to find that review.

I remember him telling me face-to-face that it was one of the greatest systems (1978 I think) he’d ever heard anywhere and at any price.

The 107, hand built in tiny numbers is both a long lost legend and marginalised if indeed utterly ignored in Meridian’s official history – as indeed is the 102 phonostage.

Regards

Howard

Can't find any images for the 107....   Orpheus followed Lecson right?  I'll look it up later anyway; I certainly recognise the name.

I'm shooting you an e-mail on the offchance he's practically giving them away...    I take it the 102 is hard to find then?  Do you know a good source for Meridian 100 series components?  They've largely flown under my radar tbh, but occasionally I read comments suggesting they're pretty good.

I suspect the only image is in the review, if I can find it. I have asked the seller to send me a few.

Yes, Orpheus followed Lecson. Lecson was a builder as indeed Meridian are but Orpheus was the brand name of two products assembled by Zircon Electronics in Biggleswade in the UK from a Boothroyd Stuart design.

I can assure you that given the rarity and the performance, the seller won't be giving them away.

You'll never find a 102. It existed only as a series of prototypes and not even one was ever supplied to the trade nor public.

Sorry but I'm no better at sourcing 100 series than anyone else - despite apparently having sold more of these than anyone else. If you want to get up to speed re these I suggest the following link: http://www.hifianswers.com/2015/05/q-boothroyd-stuart-meridian-101-103-103d-html/
