btw... I just figured out a work-around. I imported the picture into corel draw 12 (again, another very old program) and then exported it and saved it. I then imported the exported pic into Photoshop 7 and I can now save it. However, finding a fix that will work without having to do this would be amazing! I will check back later today for your reply.

The Adobe Photoshop Improvement Program is designed to help improve machine learning based features in Adobe Photoshop. Features like Object Selection, Select Subject, Select and Mask, and Content-Aware Fill can all be improved with a wide range of images to train our machine learning algorithms. Participation in this program is opt-in only and voluntary. By default, customers are not signed up to participate when they install Photoshop 21.2 (June 2020 release).

When you choose to participate in the program, images you open in Photoshop and information related to those images (including but not limited to corresponding mask data and metadata) may be sent to Adobe servers.

An Internet connection is required to participate in this program. However, you do not need to be connected all the time. When an Internet connection becomes available, the information is automatically transmitted with minimal impact to your connection.

Pros: GIMP includes advanced features such as layer masks and filters. There are plenty of downloadable add-ons to fit your needs. Both photographers and graphic designers will find the tools they need to do the majority of their work, and GIMP supports a wide range of file formats. On the plus side, it supports plug-ins downloaded from the Internet. Due to its low system requirements, this program can run even on the most outdated PCs.

Cons: Since the number of users is limited compared to other photo editing programs, there are not a lot of tutorials available. The disadvantage of this program can be considered a complex interface, which will be difficult to use for beginners, but it allows for complex manipulations with photos.

Pros: Darktable offers a simple interface that allows users to instantly correct colors, apply filters, and adjust brightness and contrast. The interface is nearly identical to that of Lightroom. While many photo editing programs are only available for Mac and Windows, Darktable is also available for Linux.

InPixio is actually a collection of software that begins with Photo Editor and includes five other programs: Photo Focus, Photo Clip, Photo Eraser, Photo Maximizer, and Photo Cutter. The free version of InPixio is simple to use and offers a range of filters, frames, and textures to improve your images.

Polarr is a simple photo editing program that aims to enhance images with filters. There are plenty of filters to choose from, allowing users to perfect their images with just one click. Aside from the filters already included in the program, users can create and save their own if they purchase the Pro version.

I have Photoshop CC 14.1.2 running on Mavericks and whenever I try to type text following a path (ex: in a circular path) I run across an error that says "Could not use the type tool because of a program error." I have tried getting rid of all corrupt texts as well as duplicates. There were a few duplicates that I could not delete, however these were not any text types that I planned to use. I am making a circular logo for an organization I am a part of so I would appreciate any help with resolving this issue. Thanks!

I finally figured out what this was about. The input-files for some reason hat a resolution of 1dpi. I included a step that changed it to 72dpi and everything is working fine. Very weird how this managed to "break" photoshop though...

But Photoshop still hates me for doing this. With the dialog for the layer style always opening it crashes after a while, if I just process it without the option it's acting weird afterwards. For example after the last go-around it wouldn't let me draw a rectangle (always saing there was a program error)

The fact is that we have already changed 3 computers, including using iMac and always had a crash of Photoshop while saving projects. On the current computer, the drivers were completely reinstalled, deleted using the DDU, and then reinstalled. And the clean installation of Photoshop 2018 did not fix this problem. Now the crash happens at random moments. Of course, we will try again to remove the photoshop with your cleaning tool, but I'm afraid the problem is in something else.

I've been trying to remove a line in a photo but when I try to make the selection using the Object Selection tool, I get the message "Could not complete your request because of a program error." PS then locks up for about 20 seconds.

The file I'm working on was doing fine until today where suddenly I cant save the file as I get this error (could not build a preview because of a program error). I have searched through google for hours looking for a solution, I see the same error however nothing current since 2012 (or 2009).

That does sound frustrating, as it's not a typical experience, as you're getting the error "Could not build a preview because of a program error", could you please let us know the version of Photoshop and operating system you're working on?

I would be super grateful for answers to this problem as well. It just started for me. So far I created an image with layers of text, etc. against a pre-existing background... After saving a version as PSD and then jpg I went back and changed a word and tried to resave and got the 'could not build a preview because of a program error' message. Exited out, tried again, same. So I look up solutions... did the whole folder and smart object trick... that didn't work either and I'm at a loss here and super frustrated because this is needed asap. All of my software is updated. This makes no sense. Help! Please!

I'm assuming you're running this on a windows machine; have you set the default program in Windows? In Windows, right-click on one of the assets and select "Open with...". Select Illustrator from the list (you may have to surf for it) and make sure the "Always use this application" (or "use this app for all files" depending on Windows version).

I'm assuming you are talking about having a smart object in Photoshop, that when you double click it takes you to its native program. If the smart object was originally an EPS, and your computer settings are to open all eps files in Office picture manager, than that will happen.

Adobe programs I have been using, like Lightroom, suddenly won't open, I get the message that Windows cannot find any of the programs. I click on the .exe file in the sub directory and get the same message. No Adobe programs work. I uninstalled all of them and downloaded Adobe Creative Cloud as a starter but get the same message again. Somehow a windows update or ?? has changed the file associations. Need help fast. Oh, Photoshop Elements is included in the group that won't open.

Here is the correct answer: A certified Microsoft tech specialist, found the problem, AVG had inserted some blocking entries to all of my Adobe programs and none would work unless the program.exe file was renamed, a workaround solution. The tech specialist deleted all AVG registry entries from the Adobe programs and now I have normal operation of the programs as they were designed. I uninstalled the AVG program as soon as the registry was cleaned. All is well again.

I have uninstalled all adobe programs that I was using thinking I could reinstall them to make them work but upon reinstalling Creative Cloud, I see that the problem is still there and reinstalling more programs won't solve any issues. I have my install disk for Lightroom 6, a program that I have used for a long time, as well as other adobe programs. None work, except Adobe Acrobat Pro, the pdf reader.

The Creative Cloud App is located in: C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\ACC\Creative Cloud.exe. this is a free download from Adobe, when working, gives access to all Adobe programs. Right now, it is the only photoshop program loaded on my hard drive.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is vs. 13, I believe. This one was a download program for which I have no disk and since I uninstalled all Adobe programs, I will have to see if Adobe has my record of purchasing it so I can get it back when the programs will work again.

I just installed Lightroom from my disk and it loaded into Program Files, Not (x86). It gives the same: Windows cannot find program, even clicking on the program.exe file in the sub directory. Same as the Creative Cloud Program.

After reading all I could find on the problem, I uninstalled all Adobe programs involved(that wouldn't open) and ran the cleaner tool. Then I installed Adobe Creative Cloud to see if the problem still existed. It does. None of the above solved the problem. With all of the other programs I have installed on my computer, formatting the HD and reinstalling from scratch is not an option. All other programs work as intended. It is just Adobe Photoshop and related programs that don't work anymore.

Thanks for the Adobe chat link. I spent about 4 hours on a remote connection today while an Adobe Tech guy tried to find an answer fiddling with my computer. He finally applied a work around where my program would work. He determined that the problem lies with the Microsoft Operating System. There is no problem with the Adobe software and since it is now working, I can complete some projects. I appreciate all of you chipping in to help. We will all see more of this problem as time progresses, I'm sure. In my chat yesterday with a Microsoft tech, he disowned the problem after not finding a solution. Actually, I talked to 4 different Tech people after disconnects. They threw in the towel, whereas the Adobe Tech stayed with me until we had my programs working. Thanks again fellas.
