Parallels Desktop 19 is optimized for macOS Sonoma, offering enhanced printing options through the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). This optimization provides a more immersive experience when running macOS virtual machines on Mac computers with Apple silicon, including improved shared printing on those devices.

Microsoft has confirmed that Parallels Desktop for Mac used with Arm versions of Windows 11 Pro and Enterprise editions is an officially compatible solution for customers on Apple M series Mac computers.

In collaboration with Apple, Parallels engineers created the world's first prototype of a macOS virtual machine (VM) running on a Mac with Apple M silicon. With Parallels Desktop 18 for Mac and newer , you can now download and install a macOS VM on a Mac with Apple silicon just with a few clicks.

Note: the .ipsw file should be configured to be opened by Parallels Desktop app. For this purpose, just right-click the .ipsw file > Get info > in the 'Open with' section select Parallels Desktop and click Change All.

Hence, if you wish to create a macOS virtual machine with a different macOS version, it is necessary to create it on a Mac running that version, and then transfer the resulting .macvm file to the destination Mac.

Please note that Parallels Tools functionalities in macOS virtual machines on Apple Silicon Mac computers are very limited. Parallels Engineering Team is researching ways to expand the list of supported features in future product updates. Some of them (e.g. Dynamic Resolution (for macOS 14 and newer VMs running on Mac computers with macOS 14 and newer), Shared Clipboard, etc) have already been added. To enable these features, please install Parallels Tools.

To run a macOS VM on Mac computers with Apple silicon, Parallels Desktop uses new technology introduced in macOS Monterey, that's why it is not possible to run earlier versions of macOS on a Mac with Apple silicon.

Most productivity and integration features are not available to this VM yet. Snapshots are not supported for now; it's not possible to change virtual machine hardware parameters (Device UUID and Serial number) and to register with Apple ID. USB and camera sharing are also missing in macOS VM running on a Mac with Apple Silicon so far.

I don't think the current version of Parallels allows for that yet on a guest Monterey VM. Hopefully in a future release of parallels, we get the gear button back for Monterey VMs where we can configure more options like this again.

I was unable to get the Pre-Stage to show on Parallels with Monterey. I followed the suggestions here and on this link however I was still unable to see the Pre-Stage on Parallels. I noticed at the bottom of the page it says 'If after changing the JAMF version and/or upgrading Parallels Desktop version the enrollment cannot be performed, delete a record for this VM asset in JSS under "Advanced Mobile Device Searches".'

I got an external monitor plugged into my iMac. I use parallel desktop on that monitor and when I set it to fullscreen it correctly fills the screen with the parallel desktop view. It's also generaly handy I can move the mouse between my Mac and Windows (Parallel Desktop). But when I start my game (such as League of Legends) it uses the boundries of my screen the move around, but it now ignores one side since the mouse will then enters the second monitor. This is extremely annoying. One solution would be to plug out my external monitor but I don't want. So my question:

I am very serious about making the switch from AD to Bricscad and wanted to make sure that the program is compatible with the Mac OS X and parallels desktop. Can anyone address the compatibilty of Bricscad running on this configuration. Thanks..

Update: I returned my Mac Pro to apple after Autodesk support told me that while vanilla AutoCAD is supported on the parallels config, Map 3D is not. I could not open the plot dialogue box without the program locking up solid. I will take a look at BricsCAD when my Adesk renewal comes up tihs winter.

If there's nothing listening in the netstat cmd above you may need to activate one of the virtual machines network options in order to make a local connection work. Bit of a guess there as i've never setup a vm without having one of the network options active.

In this article, you'll learn how to integrate Parallels Desktop with Microsoft Entra ID. SSO/SAML authentication for employees to use Parallels Desktop. Enable your employees to sign in and activate Parallels Desktop with a corporate account. When you integrate Parallels Desktop with Microsoft Entra ID, you can:

Add Parallels Desktop from the Microsoft Entra application gallery to configure single sign-on with Parallels Desktop. For more information on how to add application from the gallery, see the Quickstart: Add application from the gallery.

These values are not real. Update these values with the actual Identifier and Reply URL. Please note the Identifier and Reply URL values are customer specific and should be able to specify it manually by copying it from Parallels My Account to the identity provider Azure. Contact Parallels Desktop support team for any help. You can also refer to the patterns shown in the Basic SAML Configuration section.

On the Set up single sign-on with SAML page, in the SAML Signing Certificate section, find Certificate (PEM) and select Download to download the certificate and save it on your computer.

I'm trying to use Dropbox in a "Windows 11 Pro" virtual machine (under Parallels) on Macbook M1 (Apple silicon). When I attempt to install, I get an error message "Couldn't start Dropbox. Your device is not compatible with this version of the Dropbox app." It states that I could use Windows 11 in S mode, but I can't be restricted to S mode.

Parallels Desktop for Mac is software providing hardware virtualization for Macintosh computers with Intel processors, and since version 16.5 also for Apple silicon-based Macintosh computers. It is developed by Parallels, since 2018 a subsidiary of Corel.

Parallels Desktop for Mac is a hardware emulation virtualization software, using hypervisor technology that works by mapping the host computer's hardware resources directly to the virtual machine's resources. Each virtual machine thus operates identically to a standalone computer, with virtually all the resources of a physical computer.[4] Because all guest virtual machines use the same hardware drivers irrespective of the actual hardware on the host computer, virtual machine instances are highly portable between computers. For example, a running virtual machine can be stopped, copied to another physical computer, and restarted.

Version 2.5 brought support for USB 2.0 devices, which expanded the number of USB devices supported at native speed, including support for built-in iSight USB webcams. The amount of video RAM allocated to the guest OS was made adjustable, up to 32MB. Full featured CD/DVD drives arrived in this version, which allowed the user to burn disks directly in the virtual environment, and play any copy-protected CD or DVD as one would in Mac OS X. In addition, a shared clipboard and drag-drop support between Mac OS X and the guest OS was implemented. This version brought the ability for users with a Windows XP installation to upgrade to Windows Vista from within the VM environment.[6] A new feature known as Coherence was added, which removed the Windows chrome, desktop, and the virtualization frames to create a more seamless desktop environment between Windows and Mac OS X applications. This version also allowed users to boot their existing Boot Camp Windows XP partitions, which eliminated the need to have multiple Windows installations on their Mac. A tool called Parallels Transporter was included to allow users to migrate their Windows PC, or existing VMware or Virtual PC VMs to Parallels Desktop for Mac.

Starting with the Version 4.0 release, Parallels Desktop for Mac has a new logo, which resembles an aluminum iMac, with what appears to be Windows XP on the screen and 2 parallel red lines overlaid on the right side.

Also included are usability features such as the ability to share Windows files by dragging them directly to a Mac application in the Mac Dock. Windows can now also automatically start in the background when a user opens a Windows application on the Mac desktop. Version 4.0 drew criticism for problems upgrading from Version 3.0 shortly after its initial release.[27] Build 3810 also addresses installation and upgrade issues previously experienced with Version 4.0 and introduces the option to enroll in the company's new Customer Experience Program, which lets customers provide information about their preferences and user priorities.

Less than a year after release of its release, Parallels spokesperson John Uppendahl confirmed version 10 will not be fully compatible with Windows 10. The coherence mode, which integrates the Windows user interface with OS X, will not be updated and users will need to purchase and upgrade to version 11 to continue using this feature.[32]
