In a future society, Detroit police officer Alex J. Murphy is killed on duty. To deal with crime in the city, the authorities approve of the creation of a lethal machine, half robot, half man, that they call Robocop, and they use Murphy's body for the half-man bit. The experiment seems to be successful, but Murphy, despite being dead, still has his memory intact and decides to take revenge on his murderers.
