What other software would work better for this? I would prefer something that is free and fairly simple. I don't really want to use an editor (like photoshop or GIMP), just a nice lightweight viewer. Any suggestions?
(VLIV is also fast but doesn't allow you to zoom in/out nor make anything with the image.I contacted it's programmer and he told me that we need first to transfor the image to pyramidal format, but free windows tools don't make it well and are really slow.)

As a web designer I seek best and professional photographs which usually comes in .tiff format. I was seeking a tool which can view the images maintaining the data integrity. This tool really does the good job.
In all of the previous flight missions, I was able to open the TIFF in the standard windows picture viewer. I am now unable to open the file in any of the programs I have attempted to open it with (Photoshop, windows programs, ect.) I have not tried to open the file in any GIS specific program but can reach out to our GIS people to see if they have something that can open the file.
We have not heard from users about this and also could not reproduce from our side. The tif files (ortho or DSM) normally have floating data type and somes are too big to be opened by windows viewer. But when I am georeferencing a new image and want to rectify to .tiff, I can't see any options for choosing the pixel depth (8 bit or 16 bit)...is 16 bit mandatory? I would like it to be 8 so I could view them in image viewers without having to re-export.
In the past I've usually just rectified JPEG to JPEG and only recently started rectifiying to .tiff because I was getting issues with referenced JPEGs in 10.2 (colors change, having to set NoData values, transparent areas, etc.). The .tiff format works fine for GIS but not as easy when it comes to regualr image viewing.

I have trouble w/ TIF images that open up differently in FIJI/ImageJ and other image viewers like (windows photo viewer or even MATLAB). The image looks darker in FIJI/ImageJ, but the viewers show the correct image.
