Subject: [seriousgames] Defence Academy Serious Games report
To: "[Serious Games]" <seriou...@listserver.dmill.com>

Hi everyone

We recently undertook research work on behalf of the Defence Academy of the
UK Ministry of Defence into the benefits and barriers of using game based
learning approaches within their training. The output was a research report
that has been circulated throughout the UK MOD and which has now been
cleared for unrestricted distribution.

The summary blurb: "It identifies the key benefits and constraints of a
'learning through games' strategy, as well as a taxonomy for types of
Immersive Learning Simulations. The taxonomy also highlights the potential
uses of such simulations for Defence and their related strengths and
weaknesses"

The report can be accessed here:

_Academy_Serious_games_Report_04.11.08.pdf

A number of the chapters pertain directly to the client but chapters 6,8,9
and 10 I think are of general relevance to the community. Any comments or
queries that you may have then feel free to get in touch.

All the best
Chris
