Hi all -

TC is thinking about hosting a Global Game Jam event. Over the weekend of
January 30-February 1, people would come together to make videogames in a
48-hour time frame. I've been to Game Jam events before and they are
generally terrific!

If this is going to happen, though, we need a student to step forward as the
volunteer coordinator. This means that you would take responsibility for
making sure that the event runs smoothly - everything from reserving space
to ordering coffee to answering email to publicity. You can (and probably
will!) also recruit additional volunteers to help you. In return, you'd get
a great opportunity to get involved with the NYC game development community,
plus the satisfaction of making a fantastic event happen.

If this sounds like something you'd be willing to do, please let me know by
Wednesday night, October 1. That will give us a few days to work out
details before we have to submit our application to host a Game Jam.

By the way: if more than one person is interested, that's great! We'll have
a coordinating team. But we'll still need one person to be the official
Game Jam representative.

If you want to know more, check out the Global Game Jam site:

Hi Jess,

This sounds like a great opportunity!

I've organized this sort of events before in college and I think TC should go for it esp. if we want to diffuse TC as a niche for students in educational games.

I'd love to participate but hopefully I'll be graduating by December.

If I'm still allowed to participate count me in. If not, then I'd like to stop by and check it out. :)

Thanks
Julia

That's a good clarification!

Anyone can participate - you don't have to be a TC student at the time of
the event - but we'd like a TC student to be our coordinator/organizer.

Thanks!
