This description is of a person competent on their instrument.
But, let's say, the instrument is new. A piano or keyboard has been
purchased or received as a gift with the stress relief issue as the
focus. Is it really possible to relieve stress while learning to play
the piano? The answer is a resounding yes.
The person with a new piano is always in awe of their instrument and
is anxious to coax beautiful songs from it. They can hardly wait to
leave the cares of the workplace, home and family behind and bury
themselves in exploring the new instrument. The piano is new,
exciting, challenging and something a person has made a conscious
choice to explore. The niggling stresses of the workplace start to
disappear as the person leaves the work world and enters a world of
creativity as they begin to explore the various sounds a piano can
create.
For the beginner more attuned to structure, learning the process of
note reading and the language of music can be another step in stress
reduction. Immersing oneself in this new language and the complexities
of it do not allow the brain the luxury of dwelling on the maddening
sameness and stress of a work routine.
Spending time alone with the piano in the pursuit of a new skill can
also help alleviate stress. Getting away from bombardment of
negativity provided by the television, the newspapers, and the
internet allows the mind to relax. Focusing on the learning and
perfecting of the new skill of playing the piano takes time.
Scheduling time with the piano to learn those new skills can be
rewarding, productive and stress relieving.
Learning to play the piano using the pentatonic or five-note method is
a positive and immediately successful way to learn to play the piano.
This method does not create additional stress in your life as you
learn the new skill. Instead, it provides ways to relieve stress. The
approach encourages playing of songs from the first lesson and
encourages practice of those songs anywhere - on your desk when you
need a quick five-minute break after a stressful meeting at work, on
your steering wheel as you wait in traffic, and yes, on the piano for
a relaxing evening.
The method encourages exploration and creativity as you learn the
concepts of piano playing, it starts with playing songs with both
hands, and introduces the language of music reading as technical
skills and concepts become second-nature. Even learning to play the
piano can be a stress reliever and with the pentatonic method you
become a piano player quickly. You build a repertoire and an ease with
the piano. So, if you are in need of stress relief from the job,
family demands, and life in general, start playing the piano today.
