google desktop

While I can add your gadget to my iGoogle page, I can't figure out how
to add it to my google desktop. Is this possible? I never visit my
iGoogle page and will be so much more likely to view the daily word
list if it is on my desktop. I've always assumed that if a gadget was
available for one, it would be available for both, but apparently
that's not the case?
