Hi guys,Thank you so much for attending this meeting. It was nice to see how many ideas people have on edu-challenge.
I made a resume from last meeting (see bellow) and put it also on Gdoc so feel free to complete it. (please mention y're name for every added info)Next step: meet in 3 weeks (place and time to be announced soon) and present your project for 2 min. (you can use ppt/video/etc). After that we could select the project that interests us the most and create working groups.Ideas résume:1. Knowledge-fab bus :
Go on a trip with a bus together with students/developers/hackers and learn/discuss/create and destroy tools
- with a related project ?
- Hackerspace tour : what others are doing ?
- Hack-a-thon : whole week end to do something that take much time
2. Use teaching time to produce something.
Children and students are doing many projects in school which could be used in real life. If we could relate their work with real life situations that could motivate them in their learning (not only for the grade) and also have a positive impact.
Like translating / project management / architecture / ... maybe more
(--> recaptcha project)
3. Shadow Curriculum : create an alternative curriculum for the existent one. The idea came from the question how would you teach differently what you studied?
4 Take old computers and install an educational package (cf. edu package linux brésil)
5.Wall.E workshop- people bring stuff to assemble and re-assemble old materials (webcam, pc, mouse) and create new robots/objects
6. Collect old Lego and make cheap cublets (see: http://www.modrobotics.com/)
-contact the Secours Populaires
-local campaign
7. Create a game with cubes like -http://robozzle.com/
8. Create a channel of Edu-talks (inspired by Ted)
9. Set-up IRC bots for math class ( see twitter ortograph bot)
Use the IRC bots to correct children question in class and return an answer through a local robot interface.
10. Make an workshop on how to test Arduino without buying Arduino (to be completed by Clement :)

Thanks for the link, looks like there's quite alot of stuff to read there...
About the meeting, the thing is we (Electrolab) will be busy building the lab next week end. Doesn't mean we cannot absolutely take some time to chat about this topic, but it wouldn't be the best time to do that. On tuesdays, the Electrolab is open, so it would be a perfect time for that if we choose to meet there. Otherwise, it might be an issue for members, I don't know for sure.
Somehow, I guess it'd be a good idea to choose where you wanna organize the meeting first, because it has impacts on who will come ;)
I added both location on the options list, so people can say when and where they could come. Depending on the answers we can see what's best.
Last but not least: do we really need such a competition to get started ? Can't we just start (or keep on) doing what we want to do (eg, great education related material), and if such a competition is organized, then, well, we would have stuff to present there... ?Totally agree with you here. The competition is just an incentive and I used it as a hook for starting this discussion.

Hi !
I would be interested (through Electrolab, and probably Planete Sciences). I guess some people in Nybi (Hackerspace/fablab in Nancy) would be interested, too, as they already work on some teaching/education material.
Anyway, it'd be cool to check what has been done last year :)

Hi guys,
I wanted to share with you and interesting challenge organised internationally last year.Thirty hackerspaces around the world were chosen to participate in the Great Global Hackerspace Challenge to create something cool and useful for education. Each of the thirty spaces that completed their project received some nice soldering setups so that they can better teach how to make cool things with electronics. You can find all the details about the challenge here.Would you be interested to participate if they will organise the same competition this year?Stefania DrugaScience GamesTeamCentre de Recherches Interdisciplinaires
