AP Precalculus a gateway to advanced math
The new AP Precalculus test proved successful for students, teachers and colleges. Many underrepresented students took this AP test. Instructors overwhelmingly said they felt well-prepared to teach the class and enjoyed it. Schools’ AP scores stayed steady. More students, instead of fewer, have since taken calculus. And soon, many colleges are expected to accept the College Board’s AP Precalculus as an entry-level math credit — meaning fewer students will have to take remedial college math, and more will have access to STEM careers.
