Hi all,

Each month we'll highlight an issue that we want community feedback on.  This is perhaps the simplest way you can help the Learning Locker community and become a supporter of what we're doing.  This month we're interested in knowing "What version of the xAPI spec are you currently using?"

We're most interested in hearing from Activity Providers - those who are actively producing statements from a system or content. In your reply, tell us if you are using 0.9, 0.95 and 1.0.x (it may be more than one across different projects) and if possible, give us a little bit of background info.  Are you generating these statements yourself, or using a 3rd party system?  Are you planning to change anything soon?

Your feedback will directly affect policy here at Learning Locker, so any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks

Ben

*Please* don't use 0.9.

If you have questions about what needs to change from 0.9 to something newer, preferably 1.0.1, just ask! We are happy to help, either here or sup...@tincanapi.com or on one of the other mailing lists. If you are using a vendor that only supports 0.9, put *significant* pressure on them to upgrade their software.

I honestly have no idea if the other available LRSs support 0.9, but I can say that we'd *love* to not have to support it. Not because we don't have the resources (we do), but because it isn't what is best for the community.

With slightly less emphasis: use a library to communicate with an LRS (any LRS), it will be better for both parties, if one isn't available in a language you need or doesn't provide a feature you want, then come talk to us! (see one list here: http://tincanapi.com/libraries/, there may be others)

+1 to what Brian said. You can also mail hel...@tincanapi.co.uk or ask on this very forum!

And to what Brian said about libraries; don't just use libraries - use Brian's libraries! And if they're not good enough for any reason, please contribute!

All that said - we really would like to know if you are using 0.9 or 0.95, so don't be shy, let us know!

Thanks.

Andrew

Here at In2itive.biz we are currently generating statements for 1.0.x with the help of the excellent C# library from the guys at Rustici.
rather then rework all of our clients current scorm courses to become xAPI compliant we have built the statement generator into our own course handling routines
