This is the task I was talking about in our small Algebra 2 group last week.

I like that it is a high level example of the period 1 exposure and period 2 tinkering and goes further.

So I couldn't find where you posted the Cloze article, so I am doing it here. I read through the article and I think that activity would be great to use with any topics in any course. I definitely plan to make some of those problems.
