
Summer Skating Camp
There is one month left to register for the summer skating camp in June.
Week 1 - June 14th - deadline 4/30
Week 2 - July 12th - deadline 5/30
Cost $225 per week (3 hours of ice time per day)
The camps run from 9:30-2pm (there is daycare available before and after if needed)
Levels are Snowplow Sam 3, Basic 1-8, Freeskate 1-6 and Pre-Preliminary Freestyle.
There is a 30 camper max per week so sign up soon to secure a spot.
(This camp is design for recreational skaters and figure skaters – not ice hockey)

FORMAT OF SESSONS
Daily Schedule
1 1/2 hrs. on-ice training
1/2hr. off-ice training
1/2 hr. break for lunch
(Bring a sack lunch and drink or buy Pizza Hut)
1/2hr. off-ice training
1 1/2 hrs. on-ice training
* all skaters will be under supervision at all times and may not leave the rink area without an adult.
On-ice training includes
25 minute group lesson
Skaters will be grouped based on current skating level and work on passing 1 USFS basic skill levels.
25 minute jump and spin class
Basic 1 thru Basic 6 will work on 2 and 1 foot spins, bunny hops, and a waltz jump. The advanced skaters will work on scratch spins through camels and combination spins. Jumps will range from salchows to axels.
25 minute chorography class
Each skater will learn a skating routine/program perform for friends and family or even at a local skating competition. Programs will be based on the skaters USFS basic skills level.
25 minute style class
During this class skaters will learn the skills in the first & second level of Artistry In Motion. (The skills are listed in the USFSA skills booklet) Some skills included are head and arm movement, facial expression, music interpretation and more! A group routine will be put to music with some of the skills for the Friday performance.
25 minutes of practice time during each 1 1/2 on ice session
Off-ice training includes
Dance class—Monday, Wednesday & Friday
The Coaches will hold a jazz/hip hop dance class.
Off-ice jump class— Tuesday & Thursday
Coaches will review jumps that the skaters have learned or will learn. This helps the athletes learn body placement during each stage of each jump.
Stretching class—Monday & Wednesday
In figure skating flexibility is very important as seen in Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen’s spins and spirals. The skaters will learn a variety of stretching techniques that are safe and will help the skaters achieve beautiful skating positions. We will learn a spiral and other flexibility moves, off-ice.
Beginning Ballet— Tuesday & Thursday
Skater will learn basic ballet positions and controlled body movement.
Awards—Friday
During the final day of class, skaters will receive special awards from their coaches.
NOTES
On Friday during the last hour, each skater will have the option to perform their program individually or as a group for their parents and friends.
Please drop off your skater by 9:15 and pick up at by 2:00pm. Parents must stay for skaters age 3 and under. Parents for skaters 4 and above may leave their skater if they are potty trained. Parents that do stay must remain in the bleachers or lobby to avoid distracting the skaters and coaches.
Private Lessons—Private lessons are available Monday through Friday during the skaters practice time. Lessons are 15 minutes in length and are $12 per lesson. This is only an extra option and is not required. You can choose from 1 to 5 lessons if desired.
Coaches
All camp coaches are members of the Professional Skaters Association, US Figure Skating, and teach for LTS Cincinnati and Cutting Edge Figure Skating.
