Sanskrit nouns and pronouns have three genders but when talking about you (tvam - used for madhyam purush) or oneself (aham - used for utam purush) there is no gender. The same declension paradigm for aham (asmad, I) and tvam (yushmad, you) is used, irrespective of the gender of the person being referred to as you or oneself. However if we are talking about third person (Sanskrit's paratham purush) then the gender is very important. Hence we have he (saha), she (sA) and it (tat). The correct declension will need to be used for these cases depending on the gender.
