 Try drinking a cup of water without using your lips. Try saying the words "brother" or "mother" or "father" without using your lips. You will come to a new appreciation for this small part of the body...

"The lips are made from skin, vessels and nerves; but mainly from vessels and nerves. Hence, they are extremely sensitive, as vessels and nerves are very sensitive. The lips were created for many uses: First, they protect the teeth against cold and heat. Secondly, for the purpose of drinking. They receive the drink and measure it approximately and apportionedly. Thirdly, they facilitate the process of speech, as they are one of the most important organs of speech. Certain sounds, namely: B, W, M, and F, cannot be pronounced without the help of the lips. Fourthly, they were created for the beauty and splendor of the face."
