"The phenomenon and marvelous faculty of Memory is a wonder of wonders. It is solely the numbness of habit that makes men unaware of this great miracle and glorious testimonial to the Creator. The mind receives many millions of pieces of information. They are stored away in the subconscious so as not to interfere with our active thoughts. Nothing is ever really forgotten; and when the information is needed, the apparatus of Memory can cause old facts and pictures to leap out of the archives of the past and stand before our eyes. The time to appreciate this wondrous gift is while we still possess it and enjoy it fully, and the best form of gratitude for this is to use it to remember Hashem always, to remember his Torah, and to remember all His kindnesses."
