Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.
The following is a humble effor to transcribe one of the nectarean discussion by our beloved spiritual master Maharaj with devotees in Costa Rica on 4th January 1994.
Maharaj: Ordinary fool is a fool and he doesn’t understand anything, he is a fool. But there is a higher category of fool. He is a fool but he doesn’t know that he is a fool. And he is known as deluxe fool. You know there are buses e.g. deluxe buses with some more arrangements. He is a deluxe fool. (Laughter) And then, there is a top most quality of a fool, they not only don’t know that they they are fools, but they pose as a very wise person. And they are known as super excellent fools. (Laughter) So, I leave it to you to judge which category you are in. Because we don’t know that these sense objects are given by the Lord, our senses are given by the Lord, the whole material manifestation belongs to the Lord, and even then we really flatly deny the authority of the Lord.
This is the main purpose of this chapter in which the Virat rupa is very nicely described. So many planets and so many stars, so many things are described here. This whole science is very nicely described in Surya Siddhanta – the book named Surya Siddhanta. Those of us who are very much interested in this science should read and study that book. And it is written by a great professor known as Bimal Prasad Datta. And who is Bimal Prasada Datta, do you know? Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura. Because he wrote Surya Siddhant, he was given this title of Siddhant. And in the end he proved bhakti towards the Lord, that’s why he was given the name of Bhaktisiddhanta and because he was very knowledgeable, he was known as Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati. And because he was the controller of his senses, he was known as Bhaktisiddhant Saraswati Goswami. And because he was a spiritual master of the whole world, he was given the whole title Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Goswami Maharaj. And because he was the ideal one, he was given the name Prabhupada. And he has written this Surya Siddhant.
Those of us who are very much interested to know this science, and we should be interested, try to find out some time and try to go through the book. And he is the spiritual master of Srila Prabhupada. And because of his order, we are all sitting here. He instructed Srila Prabhupada to go to the Western countries and distribute Krishna all over the world. And his mercy and Srila Prabhupada’s mercy that we have got some knowledge. One point you must understand regarding this chapter, that all these different planetary systems, they are moving constantly in the orbit, their own orbits. Now it should be very clear to us on what planet we are sitting, and what is this body. I will give you a short description. The planet on which we are situated, it is known as earth planet. It is revolving around its own axis and by which we have day and night. Near the equator, the speed of this movement is one thousand miles per hour. We are away from the equator. Even then it should be five hundred miles per hour here. We are discussing Srimad Bhagavatam since one hour, we have moved five hundred miles. We don’t feel this movement.
Krishna willing we shall hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offering.
