ButMiss Marple is a wise old woman, and as she watches the younger generation go about its business, she recognizes how much these people resemble the villagers of old, including the Edward Leekes, Mary Hoopers, and other village parallels that serve as a lexicon of human behavior for Miss Marple to explore.

By now we know better, of course, than to expect plodding detection or clue analysis in a Miss Marple novel. Still, her knowledge of human nature tends to be logical or, at least, full of common sense, and those all-too-convenient village parallels serve as charming window dressing to the way her mind works. Plus, in most of her books, Christie utilized offhand remarks or seemingly random events to inspire her sleuths to see the truth.

Miss Marple reminisces about everything she saw during The Murder at the Vicarage. She talks to Dolly Bantry and recalls events from The Body in the Library. Inspector Craddock asks her about her success rate at solving cases for The Tuesday Night Club. Say what you like about her detection here, Miss Marple is present in full force and a delightful presence at that.

The story is based on the real life tragedy of the gorgeous Gene Tierney, who apparently became infected with German measles while performing at a charity event at the Hollywood Canteen. Sadly, she was in early pregnancy and her daughter was born with numerous birth defects and had to be institutionalized throughout her life.

Is there a way to make my quick tools display in my tool bar at the top, rather than having them all contained in a separate drop down menu? I use Adobe Acrobat a LOT (my office is paperless so I'm literally using Adobe all day long), and I'm constantly having to do extra clicks to open that drop down to get to my quick tools. It's bogging me down. My prior version of Adobe showed my quick tools on my tool bar across the top of my screen on the tool bar, making them much quicker to get to. Can they be moved?

Yes that's exactly what I want. But mine don't show across the top, the show up in a drop down inside of the icon with three dots (as highlighted below). How do I get them to show across the top instead?

"Some babies find it soothing to shake their head from side to side. They may do this when they are overstimulated, anxious, or trying to fall asleep. Self-soothing is harmless and may help a baby feel less anxious in new situations."

So if your baby has any symptoms you're concerned about, it's always worth checking in with the GP. But head-shaking can also be perfectly normal in young babies, so if your little one has no other symptoms, there's probably no need to worry.

Yes. My son is 4 months and he does this. And he moves alot. Kicking legs and arms then it stops. They say baby reflux REM. He doesn't do it when he's sleeping on me. Maybe it's some type of separation anxiety.

Background: The improving efficacy of cancer treatment has resulted in an increasing array of treatment-related symptoms and associated burdens imposed on individuals undergoing aggressive treatment of their disease. Often, clinical trials compare therapies that have different types, and severities, of adverse effects. Whether rated by clinicians or patients themselves, it can be difficult to know which side effect profile is more disruptive or bothersome to patients. A simple summary index of bother can help to adjudicate the variability in adverse effects across treatments being compared with each other.

Methods: Across 4 studies, a total of 5765 patients enrolled in cooperative group studies and industry-sponsored clinical trials were the subjects of the current study. Patients were diagnosed with a range of primary cancer sites, including bladder, brain, breast, colon/rectum, head/neck, hepatobiliary, kidney, lung, ovary, pancreas, and prostate as well as leukemia and lymphoma. All patients were administered the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General version (FACT-G). The single item "I am bothered by side effects of treatment" (GP5), rated on a 5-point Likert scale, is part of the FACT-G. To determine its validity as a useful summary measure from the patient perspective, it was correlated with individual and aggregated clinician-rated adverse events and patient reports of their general ability to enjoy life.

Conclusions: The single FACT-G item "I am bothered by side effects of treatment" is significantly associated with clinician-reported adverse events and with patients' ability to enjoy their lives. It has promise as an overall summary measure of the burden of a given set of treatment toxicities compared with another. Future research can identify the contribution of individual side effects compared with one another in terms of how each may contribute to overall bother. Indeterminate or vining tomatoes produce plenty of side shoots, which we spend all season pinching off and composting. These are prolific on some tomato plants and often you miss one or two shoots which end up growing long.

This is a great way to propagate heritage plants. I first used this technique a few years ago when I bought some Black Russian tomato plants for their black tomatoes. They were quite expensive at the time as colored tomatoes were rare in the UK and not very popular. Due to the cost, I bought two plants, but I really liked the idea of black tomatoes. They grew like crazy and I went away for a week and came back to far too many side shoots. It was a shame to throw them away, so I decided to put them in water on the kitchen window sill and see if they would root, and they did!

Start by choosing a side shoot that is around four to eight inches long. Avoid side shoots that are too long as they can get a bit leggy. You can still grow from them, but plant them much deeper in the soil when you plant them out. Use a sharp pair of scissors or secateurs to cut the side shoot close to the main stem, being very careful not to damage the main stem. You can pinch it off with your fingers, but as the shoot is a bit thicker than normal, you have less chance of damaging the main stem if you use scissors.

The tomato plant needs to have all the root and some of the stem under the soil. More roots will grow from the stem and the new roots will soon establish themselves in the soil. Make sure the soil is not too compacted so the roots can get through the soil, and put the tomato plant somewhere warm and bright. Keep it well watered until it has fully established itself in its pot.

Once the plant has established itself, you can harden it off and start moving it outside so it gets used to the weather or transfer it to a greenhouse. Harden the plants off over a week or two, depending on the weather conditions where you live. Once it is happy outside, then you can move it to a larger pot or plant it out, depending on where you are going to grow your tomato plants. Water, feed and stake the plant as normal and keep removing the side shoots diligently.

As the growing season will be shorted for this plant, you need to make sure it focuses its energy on producing fruit. Remember to pinch the growing tip off when the plant reaches your desired height, usually three to five flower trusses, depending on the length of your growing season and whether you are growing them indoors or outside.

This is a great way to grow more tomatoes. I pinch the side shoots and just push them into the grow media in my aquaponics system. This waters them to grow roots and then there is no transfer shock or hardening off needed.

At Urban Farm U, we believe growing your own food creates a happier, healthier life. It makes us feel better and contributes to a healthier planet. Our current food system is broken. The lack of nutrition, proliferation of environmental toxins, and average distance our food travels to our tables, has reduced its nutritional density.

The Urban Farm is Your Go-To Resource for Online Food-Growing Education. Through our courses, classes, and podcasts, we can help you gain the understanding, the confidence, and the inspiration to grow your own food.

A large part of the joy of this book is the mutual dislike these two Hollywood actresses have for one another. Lola is the new starlet, Marina the fading star. The fantastic sparring between Kim Novak and Elizabeth Taylor in the 1980 version is sharp and at times seems all too realistic! Two great movie stars, one ageing, one launching her career, snipe and jibe at one another so beautifully. Here are a few of the wonderful lines Elizabeth Taylor and Kim Novak deliver to one another.

Thank you so much for reading. Yes, the Elizabeth Taylor/Kim Novak situation is very over done but it does make for a very entertaining film and, I think, a lot of people did enjoy that. I think sometimes the adaptations of Agatha Christie novels miss the wit and tongue in cheek humour. There is a playful nature alongside all the other aspects and I do think this film, albeit rather overblown, is great fun.

Geraldine McEwan is my favorite Miss Marple too. Your analysis of the Hickson and McKenzie versions of character in THE MIRROR is spot-on. The idea that Miss Marple and Marina are both feeling their age in this book makes a lot of sense. My favorite Marple books are The Body in the Library and A Murder is Announced.
