Hello fellow authors,
I don’t know how many people read the author forums vs the email group. This is important enough that I thought it was useful to distributed widely.
Mark Kilby and I received an email from “Pact” a place that purports to offer a licensing agreement. They will
"gives you access to our extensive network of academic and corporate partners. We can also list your title in large libraries like Safari and consumer channels like Amazon.”
If you have your own ISBNs, you can offer your book *everywhere in the world* via IngramSpark. Spark will distribute ebooks and print. (I don’t use them for ebooks because the royalty is too low.)
You can use Draft2Digital.com to distribute your ebook almost everywhere in the world.
You can, by yourself, go direct to Kobo, Nook (Barnes and Noble), Apple, Amazon (ebook and print). You can go to Google Play/Books/Publish, whatever the heck they’re calling it this month. (It’s possible I don’t understand it :-)
You don’t need anyone to distribute your book wide. And, for a measly 30% royalty? I think even IngramSpark offers more than that for ebooks.
My opinion: this is a scam. You don’t need anyone to distribute your books if you choose to sell elsewhere in addition to leanpub.
I love leanpub for book generation and easy selling. I also distribute my books widely so people can discover them on the book buying platform of their choice. That’s *my* business decision, not necessarily yours.
You don’t need anyone else to distribute your books, ebook or print. You do not. Do not fall for this scam.
Okay, back to work,
Johanna
