We are luck this month to have author, speaker, educator, and Lean and Green expert Brett Wills speak with us. He will focus on the following areas:

 

-        Understand the intention of “green” and “sustainability” – What are we trying to achieve

-        Business Case for Green – Why are we trying to achieve

-        Overview of Lean and Green Process – How do we achieve

-        Overview of the 7 Green Wastes

-        Real world examples of benefits realized for each of the 7 green wastes

 

 

BIO: BRETT WILLS brings over 14 years of experience in the sustainability arena. As a former plant manager, Brett has first-hand experience leading teams in the implementation of both continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives. Brett’s focus on integrating the disciplines of sustainability and continuous improvement delivers tangible and quantifiable results that can be sustained into the future. Brett also has extensive experience in the development of quality and environmental management systems such as ISO 9001, 14001 and 14064. 

 

As President of the Green Enterprise Movement and Director of Sustainability for High Performance Solutions Inc., Brett now spends a majority of his time helping organizations across North America accelerate their journey towards sustainability. Brett has worked with numerous organizations across a broad sector of industries from government to health care to hospitality to manufacturing to agriculture. The focus of Brett’s work is on driving sustainability through the organization and includes: strategy development and implementation, application of lean and continuous improvement tools to drive sustainable performance, energy & water  conservation, material optimization, waste diversion, development of greenhouse gas and water inventories, carbon management and reduction strategies, corporate social responsibility reporting, sustainable procurement, and more.

As Professor of Green Business Management at Seneca College in Toronto, ON, Brett is helping to prepare the next wave of sustainability change agents to enter the workforce.

Brett lives in Toronto and is the author of “Green Intentions: Creating a Green Value Stream to Compete and Win” a book that presents a systematic process for organizations to go green profitably, a process that is based on lean thinking. Brett holds a BA in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
