We've been accepted into a tech incubator! It's called The Next Big Thing and is located in Greenville, SC, (USA). This means that from June through mid September Roger and I will be working out of a shared office space, be talking to approximately 100 different advisors, and growing this company to the point where it is ready for outside investment. This incubator takes care of our living costs, legal paper work, and gives us access to designers and MBA graduates who work alongside us pro-bono. At the end of this summer, we will be pitching our company to a room of 350 early stage investors, and we hope to raise enough to hire our first few employees.

Thanks everyone, for believing in us at such an early stage in our company! We plan to really take this to the next level.

On playwithlv.com (A mirror of leaguevine.com where you can test stuff out, enter false data, or try to break it without any consequences), the setup is now nearly identical to that of leaguevine.com. We've introduced background workers, just like we have on Leaguevine. Thus, when playing around and testing things out on playwithlv, you'll now get an experience that is much closer to that of our production site. Some differences that still remain:
  • The data will not necessarily be up to date. We'll refresh it every so often (probably every few weeks) to make it identical to the production site.
  • It will be slightly slower because we are using a cheaper database plan.
  • playwithlv does not use HTTPS.

On Leaguevine, we added the feature of allowing multiple people to take stats for the same game from different smartphones from different accounts at the exact same time. All of the events they enter are still stored and are accessible via the API, but if you look at the box score or play-by-play for the game on the relevant leaguevine page, you'll notice that the event history appears to be merged and the duplicate events are not double counted in the box scores. You won't need to worry about how this works when you develop your apps, but just know that leaguevine by default can gracefully handle duplicate events when calculating statistics from those events. Here's an example of a game where there was one guy on a phone entering the play-by-play for just the Rampage and clicking "unknown" for the Hunters, while another guy on a different account entered the play-by-play for the Hunters while clicking "unknown" for the Rampage:

Nationals is a week from Friday! At the moment, it doesn't seem like we will be officially partnering with USA Ultimate to bring the community stats for all of the games because our system is simply not ready. Leaguevine-Ultistats has been working well for those who have been using it, but it is not yet easy enough to use for such a large event with so many volunteers. For us to work with USA Ultimate in an official capacity, we need to make sure all of the stats are generated without any problem.

Instead, we will be leading up our own small efforts to take stats at select games throughout nationals. There will be at least 4 of us taking stats, but we will be looking for more volunteers from now until then. Please let me know if you plan to be going out to Boulder this year, as I'd love to meet up! If you are going, it would be great if you could join us in these stat keeping efforts too.

1. Yay. That's great.

4. Boo. I'm sorry I haven't had more time. My daughter has gotten
particularly fussy lately. Every night is a bit of a struggle. The
issues I'm working on now are big things that require refactoring and
maintaining a comprehensive overview of the entire project in my
brain's cache. Every time I attend to my daughter my cache gets
emptied and I have to remember what I was doing. It isn't very
efficient, but I'm trying.

Besides the undo button and semi-offline support, can you prioritize
the github issues according to those most useful for College
Nationals? Maybe use a github milestone or something.

Hey Chad,

No worries about Leaguevine-Ultistats not being ready. And I definitely didn't mean to blame the un-readiness on Leaguevine-Ultistats. Most of the major blocking issues we've run into over the past month since making the stats functionality live have come on the Leaguevine (server) side of things and not on Leaguevine-Ultistats. Since I've been running around putting out fires on our backend to make sure things go ok for the AUDL, I haven't been putting in as much time into Leaguevine-Ultistats as I would have liked. So if anything, the blame is on me and Roger for being too pre-occupied with the backend stuff to help out.

Again, though, even having partial stats at nationals will be pretty awesome. I'll recruit some more volunteers through RSD so hopefully we can have stats for several games going on at once. By doing it on a small scale, I'll have a chance to talk to them individually and make sure any issues are resolved.

For the github priorities, yes the Undo button should probably be the top priority. I created a milestone for Nationals and added just the most important issues to it:
