FINALLY, THE TRUTH ABOUT THE RH BILL
AN ACADEMIC FORUM
C.M. Recto Hall, Faculty Center,
University of the Philippines Diliman
with speakers from the fields of:
Medicine and Bioethics | Sociology | Economics | Social Work | Law
We find it only fitting to create an intelligent discourse on the facts of the Reproductive Health Bill. We firmly believe that the debates that stem from the contentiousness of the Bill’s provisions cannot be simplified into a mere disagreement between the Church and the State. The RH Bill must be discussed not only in terms of its moral correctness but in terms of its real implications to human life. It is this reality that we intend to make known. Moreover, it is the richness of this reality that we seek to understand through academic discussions.
As our response to the unfortunate misinformation and deception of the public on the boons and banes of the Reproductive Health/Responsible Parenthood Bills, we have set our efforts on organizing an academic forum geared at highlighting the real implications of the proposed legislations scrutinized by the lens of scientific inquiry. Simply put, we wish to create for the public a forum in which only the truth will be spoken of. Hence, the forum simply being titled “Finally, the Truth About the RH Bill.” It has been set on March 03, 2011 (Thursday) at 1:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon at the C.M. Recto Hall, Faculty Center, UP Diliman. We invite you to this opportunity to broaden perspectives and deepen understandings on the implications of the RH Bill. In this forum, we will bring you scientific facts void of personal biases and bigoted opinions. In this forum, we will let science speak for itself to dismantle misconceptions and misinformation perpetuated by mass media. We invite you to hear from experts of the academe from the fields of medicine, sociology, economics, social work, and law.
It is our earnest desire that you be one with us in upholding nothing but the sublime truth in the interest of safeguarding the genuine welfare of the Filipino people. As members of a University for the Philippines, this is our way of bringing our society the enlightenment, the protection, the service it deserves.
