Dear All,

 

Engaged Citizen Forum (ECF) is a first of its kind people’s forum organized to get citizen inputs into legislation in parliament.  The ECF has organized a Panel Discussion on Sunday 20^th December  at Purva Riviera Apartment Complex, Maratahalli on the Environmental Bill. We have a set of eminent panelists. Please do attend for an engaging discussion and give your inputs to this important piece of legislation. The Forum plans to collate feedback from this session and forward the relevant feedback to the sponsors of the legislation.

Dr. A. N. Yellapa Reddy	Dr. Reddy is a noted environmentalist and former Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer. He was a former secretary of the department of ecology and environment, Government of Karnataka. Dr.Reddy has served on various committees. The Karnataka Government recently announced a massive program to develop green belt along the irrigation canals that are over 100,000 km in the state based on Dr. Yellappa Reddy Committee recommendations
Mr. Rajeev Kumar	Rajeev Kumar is an Entrepreneur, Advanced Technology & Green Technology Evangelist and Investment Banker by profession, a Social Entrepreneur, an Urban Ecologist, a Mentor and a Speaker by passion. He is known for his social initiatives - Project Agastya, The Sixth International Ecocity Conference (Ecocity6), the Cleaner Production initiative & the Rajeev Kumar Foundation. Rajeev is a recipient of several awards & recognitions and was a Bangalore Finalist at the "Lead India" by 'Times of India'
Dr. Harish Hande	Dr. H Harish Hande is Managing Director, SELCO-India, which he co-founded with Neville Williams in 1995. SELCO Solar Pvt. Ltd a social enterprise established in 1995, provides sustainable energy solutions and services to under-served households and businesses.  Dr. Hande earned his Doctorate in energy engineering (solar specialty) at the University of Massachusetts (Lowell). He has an undergraduate degree in Energy Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. Dr. Hande serves on the boards of many organizations, both national and international.
Mr.B.V. Satish	Mr.Satish is Chief Engineer, BBMP, Lakes for Bangalore.  The BBMP has come out with an action plan for the development of lakes under its jurisdiction. Called Namma Bangalore Nisarga, the action plan envisages restoration of 21 lakes at a cost of Rs. 337 crore. Besides, the BBMP said 123 other lakes are to be taken up for restoration. The total cost of restoring, protecting and preserving all 144 lakes would be Rs. 985 crore.
Mr.Aditya Sondhi	Mr.Aditya Sondhi is an alumnus of the National Law School of India University. He holds an Honours Degree in Law and a Masters Degree in Political Science. He is an Advocate practising before the High Court of Karnataka and the Supreme Court of India. Aditya represents various NGOs / individuals in PILs which involve a challenge to the Revised Master Plan for the city of Bangalore based mainly on the violation of objectives of Zoning Regulations in residential and Green Belt areas, the Outer Ring Road Project involving acquisition of agrarian lands, the vires of provisions of the Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act relating to change of land use under the Zoning Regulations and the implementation of scientific guidelines for laying and repair of roads in Bangalore.
Mr.Sampath Kumar	N. Sampath Kumar, Managing Director TIDE Technocrats (P) Limited, has done his Civil Engineering and Post Graduation in Rural Management. He has been working in the area of renewable energy and waste management for last 19 years.  He has undertaken many technical consulting and implementation projects on municipal solid waste management including collection, transport, processing with composting, biomethanation and sanitary landfill solutions.
