Hi Everyone
I did the first run of this MOOC (a Massive Open Online Course) early in the year and have to say it was a wonderful experience. Challenging at times, but definitely horizon-broadening!
The students were an inspiring lot of community workers, activists and others who wanted to know about the societal roots of money (not just economics) and how much more life-friendly our systems of exchange could be.
Be encouraged; it's free and could well be one of the more enriching experiences of your life.

Dear Murray
As you expressed interest, started or completed the Money and Society MOOC, we want to update you on things and ask your help.
We want people to know about the 3rd cohort, still free, which starts on February 14th 2016. It was a labour of love, after all. Can you forward this message to your friends and networks suggesting they consider signing up for this free course which has been described as "bloody brilliant" and "mind bending" as well as "helpful for my local currency work"? They need to look at this link for more info
http://www.ho.io/moocThe donations from participants in cohort 1 and 2 have totalled less than 1500GBP, for my cotutor and platform designer Matthew Slater and his NGO Community forge, that host the platform. Therefore we have delayed creating lesson 5 until after Cohort 3.
However, there are still ways you can re-engage in February:
- If you are an alumni, having completed all 4 lessons, we are keen for you to log in during Cohort 3, and help out as a volunteer tutor. We are grateful to Francesca and others who did that last time.
- If you didn't complete the MOOC last time, your account will be unblocked on Feb 14th and you can rejoin the MOOC!
Would like a qualification on this topic? And to study in person with others? To meet your tutors? The MOOC is the pre course work for our Certificate of Achievement in Sustainable Exchange. It involves 5 days study in person in our London Docklands campus, and is led by myself and Leander Bindewald, with lots of guest lecturers from people involved in currency innovation, the sharing economy and monetary reform. Yeehah, gets me excited thinking about it. It starts on April 11th. Unlike the MOOC, it costs money, over 1000GBP. But you then get a qualification in this fascinating field. We recommend you start your application before Xmas.
