Cliodynamics is a new “transdisciplinary discipline” that treats history as just another science. Ten years ago I started applying its tools to the society I live in: the United States. What I discovered alarmed me.
My research showed that about 40 seemingly disparate (but, according to cliodynamics, related) social indicators experienced turning points during the 1970s. Historically, such developments have served as leading indicators of political turmoil. My model indicated that social instability and political violence would peak in the 2020s.

Hi Helen
I’m sorry, I’m not keeping up with emails or phone messages. These days, and for the foreseeable future, I’m hardly at home, and when I am I’m tired and catching up with essentials, like eating and sleeping, and LIFT stuff. My daughter had a serious operation a few weeks ago and has to spend most of her time lying down, cannot use her right hand, needs pretty well everything done for her, and we’re busy with preparation for two events she’s running tomorrow and Tuesday. Then her husband comes back from working overseas and I’ll get a bit of relief, in the evenings anyway.
When things calm down I’ll get back to you – but I did use some bits out of one email, The New Economy Roundup, to display at last night’s film evening on climate change - Before the flood. Thanks very much for those!
