Hymn number keypad

Something I think would be really nice in the LDS Music App is a keypad for typing in the hymn you want to go to. It's faster than scrolling through a list, especially if your device is slow. I've seen this in other apps...

This is a good idea.

There's a tradeoff involved though… the feature will take up UI space, and we're already getting really tight on the iPhone. It may not look like it yet, but designs for upcoming features are already feeling the squeeze. For example, there will soon be a "Now Playing" button at the top right of almost every screen on the iPhone. Things that are currently at the top right will be moved to replace the title.

It turns out that you can already search by # though. Just tap the search box, switch to numeric, and type in the number. It's nowhere near as easy as the keypad though, I know.

Is it possible to put this feature on the iPad only, if not practical on the iPhone? Or, perhaps, in settings it could be chosen as a default home screen for the app...

As long as we are looking at requesting features, can there be a tab system setup so that when you come in for sacrament you can pull up all the hymns at once and then just tab over on the ipad when its time to sing that song? I am in the presidency and since I conduct I don't always have the time to remember to lookup the next hymn before I stand up again.

Making this an iPad-only feature might be a really good idea. I'll see how we can work it in.

That use case totally makes sense. The long-overdue playlists feature will probably fill that need perfectly. It will let you make a playlist (say, "Sacrament Mtg"), and then you can add/remove/reorder songs in it. That should make it easy to move back and forth between the hymns during Sacrament meeting when you're conducting.
