Dearest VEYM family,
Blessed feast day of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini to you and yours!
Yesterday, in his
Wednesday
General Audience, Pope Leo continued the catechesis cycle on Jesus Christ Our Hope, reflecting on human fraternity and our call to love one another. The Holy Father highlights the importance of fraternity in our lives. He explains that fraternity
cannot and must not be taken for granted. Even though today’s wars, tensions, and conflicts make fraternity seem difficult, without it, “we would not be able to survive, grow, or learn.” Pope Leo encourages us to turn to God, the source where our love can
be strengthened. “
May the Lord free us from all selfishness and division and renew us in hope that we may faithfully imitate his generous love for all people.”

The past few days, the members of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) have gathered in Baltimore for their Fall Plenary Assembly. During this meeting, our U.S. bishops approved the
consecration of the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart in June 2026, as part of the Church’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. They also voted to approve the
Summer of 2029 for the next National Eucharistic Congress. Please save those dates on your calendars.
The bishops also issued a Special
Pastoral Message addressing their concern for the evolving situation impacting immigrants in the United States. It marked the first time in twelve years the USCCB invoked this particularly urgent way of
speaking as a body of bishops. Please take some time to read/listen to our bishops' message.
During the Assembly, the U.S. bishops elected new leadership for the Conference for the 2025-2029 term. Please keep the newly elected President, Vice-President, secretary and chairmen in your prayers as they embark on their service, committed to advancing the
mission of the Church in the United States. May they all be faithful stewards and wise servants of Christ.
New Resource from the Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis “Inviting Young Adults into Dialogue: A Guide for Bishops and Church Leaders”
In response to the USCCB mandate’s special focus on young adults and the Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis’ priority on reaching young adults, a resource has been created with recommendations and best practices for engaging and dialoguing with young
adults. Titled
Inviting Young Adults into Dialogue: A Guide for Bishops and Church Leaders,
It is available here for
