Hey Everybody,
For those of you that aren't aware, the security framework I created for LDS I/O grew into what is now Cloud by Daplie, The World's First Home Cloud for Everyone.
If you buy into our vision of Taking Back the Internet, you can literally buy into
Daplie as well on WeFunder as well

Cloud by Daplie
Our focus with Cloud is to provide convenient, private, secure, and permanent access to all of your content and apps, using your home internet connection and personal domain, without monthly fees.
To put this in context, the current model for genealogy software is pay-to-play.
Since people invest years into curating their albums, documents, and family audio and video interviews, but the various companies come and go, buy and sell, change formats, etc, and so the fear of losing years of work is very real - perhaps some of you have experienced this first hand - and many of these online services don't offer any convenient way to backup your data.
While our launch of Cloud will include basic apps for file sync and media content, we had a really positive experience at RootsTech and realized that the future of genealogy must shift back to the home for the long-haul. Cloud will be a great platform for that - allowing friends and family members to easily collaborate, share, and backup their work through decentralized apps.
(we don't have a lot of details release for our developer platform, but APIs for authentication, authorization, basic data storage and the like are built-in - just like we had begun to do with LDS I/O)
The Future of LDS I/O
As for the future of LDS I/O, tech security framework that we had originally developed is even better. Even more has been automated.
We're not yet ready to bring LDS I/O back online, but when we do it will be a decentralized version that runs on Cloud (and we may also make it available to install on other, ephemeral platforms like digital ocean and heroku) which means that it won't go back down.
We hope to have your support moving forward with Daplie and in re-decentralizing the Internet and putting our stuff back in the privacy of our homes.
